Resource 1 is seeking an experienced HR Director on a consulting basis to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Human Resources function for our local client. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), this role will ensure continuity of HR operations, support employee relations and workforce initiatives, and maintain effective HR program delivery while the current HR Director leads the organization’s enterprise system (ERP) implementation.
The HR Director will also oversee the development and performance of HR Managers and staff while ensuring compliance with applicable state, federal, and university policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong capabilities in strategic leadership, employee relations, compliance, risk management, talent management, organizational development, operational excellence, program oversight, stakeholder and relationship management, and people leadership and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Provide strategic Human Resources leadership and counsel to senior leadership and management teams.
- Analyze organizational risks and workforce trends to support long-term planning and institutional priorities.
- Partner with leadership to support organizational effectiveness and workforce strategy.
Employee Relations, Compliance & Risk Management
- Lead and support complex employee relations matters, including investigations, grievance resolution, and conflict management for union and non-union employees.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional employment laws and policies.
- Support managers in addressing disciplinary actions, performance concerns, and workplace ethics matters.
- Promote consistent and equitable application of HR policies and procedures.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on ADA claim management and workplace accommodations.
Talent Management & Organizational Development
- Support initiatives that promote inclusive recruitment, retention, and employee engagement.
- Strengthen leadership capacity across departments through coaching and development initiatives.
- Provide oversight and guidance related to talent acquisition operations and onboarding processes.
Operational Excellence & Program Oversight
- Oversee HR analytics, reporting, and performance metrics to support data-driven decision making.
- Utilize workforce data and insights to guide organizational planning and HR program effectiveness.
- Lead and support special HR initiatives and strategic projects as needed.
- Monitor and improve operational efficiency across HR functions.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Build strong relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, and leadership teams.
- Assess stakeholder needs and provide strategic HR guidance and support.
- Serve as a trusted advisor across departments to ensure effective HR service delivery.
People Leadership & Team Development
- Oversee the development and performance of HR Managers and staff, establishing clear expectations and accountability.
- Mentor and coach HR team members to support professional growth and leadership development.
- Foster a collaborative, service-oriented HR culture focused on supporting employees and leaders.
