Systems Administrator

GDIT has an exciting opportunity to support the Security Assistance Group - Ukraine (SAG-U) as a member of our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program supporting U.S. Army Europe and Africa's (USAREUR-AF) mission in Wiesbaden, Germany.

The Tier III Systems Administrator is a key member of the J6 Operations Division (J63), responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of critical infrastructure systems across mission-specific enclaves such as SAGNet and TAN. This role supports virtual environments, domain services, backup solutions, and other backend capabilities that enable operational continuity in a forward-operating environment.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Tier III Systems Administrator at GDIT, you will provide hands-on technical expertise to sustain classified and unclassified systems supporting the mission of U.S. Army Europe and Africa. Your actions will directly affect system uptime, cybersecurity posture, and user productivity.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Maintain and optimize virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V) supporting mission enclaves
  • Administer Active Directory services (DNS, DHCP, GPO, Certificate Services) and Group Policy
  • Apply system hardening per DISA STIGs and assist with RMF compliance documentation
  • Support backup/restore solutions and ensure data integrity across systems
  • Perform Tier III troubleshooting, escalation support, and root cause analysis for system-related incidents
  • Assist with system patching, OS upgrades, and configuration changes as part of the Change Management process
  • Document system builds, configurations, and operational procedures

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of experience, Associate's with 6 years, Bachelor's with 4 years, or Master's with 2 years in systems administration or engineering
  • Experience: 4+ years supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments and virtualization platforms
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Certificate Services; Strong working knowledge of VMware or Hyper-V virtualization infrastructure; Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation and administration; Understanding of backup technologies (e.g. Veeam, Commvault, native Windows tools)
  • Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance required
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
  • ROLE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to support enclave-specific infrastructure and troubleshoot complex system issues; Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements including STIGs and RMF; Comfortable working in hybrid environments with legacy systems and modern cloud capabilities; Willingness to participate in after-hours maintenance or on-call rotation as needed
  • CERTIFICATIONS: Required: IAT Level II certification (e.g. Security+ CE) Preferred: Microsoft Certified, VMware VCP, or similar
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience supporting multiple DoD mission enclave environments; Familiarity with DoD enclave configurations and ACAS scan remediation; Exposure to cloud-hosted platforms or cross-domain solutions; Ability to create and maintain technical SOPs and infrastructure diagrams

The likely salary range for this position is $72,250 - $97,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
