The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, performance, security, and availability of enterprise database platforms supporting critical business applications.
The role works closely with application, infrastructure, and development teams to ensure reliable database operations, implement enhancements, troubleshoot production issues, and support strategic technology initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases supporting enterprise applications.
Monitor database performance, availability, capacity, and storage utilization.
Perform database backups, restorations, disaster recovery testing, and maintenance activities.
Troubleshoot database performance issues, blocking, deadlocks, and data-related incidents.
Implement database upgrades, migrations, and patching activities.
Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
Required Skills:
Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
Expertise in performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
Experience with database backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability technologies.
Knowledge of database security, monitoring, and capacity planning.
Experience supporting mission-critical enterprise applications.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work with cross-functional infrastructure, application, and business teams.
Preferred Experience
Database migration and modernization projects.
Storage and infrastructure integration experience.
Automation using PowerShell, T-SQL, or similar technologies.
Typical Daily Activities
Monitor and maintain production databases.
Investigate and resolve incidents and performance alerts.
Support application teams with database issues and deployments.
Review database health metrics and capacity trends.
Execute backups, recovery testing, and maintenance tasks.
