The Manufacturing Controls Engineer is responsible for researching, planning, developing and designing electrical controls and electromechanical systems for manufacturing processes. Aids in the improvements of manufacturing processes through enhanced control systems, electrical and/or mechanical improvements or process improvements. Coordinates the activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation and repair of these systems. Assists in electrical and process troubleshooting and repair, while supporting the needs of the Manufacturing Department to drive continuous improvement plans by using experience and related knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aids in the improvements of manufacturing processes through enhanced control systems, electrical and/or mechanical improvements or process improvements.
  • Researches, plans, develops and designs electrical controls and electromechanical systems for manufacturing processes.
  • Visual acuity to written material, computer screen data, prints and plans. Written documentation and verbal communication of engineering revisions and additions, maintenance of schematics, etc.
  • Coordinates the activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation and repair of these systems

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent professional experience
  • 1-3 years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong background/understanding of programming, support, troubleshooting, and diagnostics for industrial programmable logic controllers. Allen Bradley and Siemens systems knowledge a plus.
  • Experience with the design and specification of new processes, packaging, and machinery. Robotic programming a plus
  • Strong aptitude in electrical schematics and the ability to develop new or update existing schematics.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement cross-functional teams/projects.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process flows and proven ability to identify and correct bottlenecks/constraints in a highly automated and fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Draft Sight.
  • Experience in continuous and batch manufacturing processes controls, PID controls, P&ID diagrams.
  • Networking communications and OT network security protocols including managed switch configurations a plus.
  • Duties require effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Visual acuity to written material, computer screen data, prints and plans.
  • Physical ability to operate a personal computer and to move throughout the facilities and in/around machinery to perform inspections, etc.

The MA base pay range for this position is from $91,450 to $111,750. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
