Hi,
Hope you are doing well.
Please find the job description below and let me know your interest.
Position: Network Operations Engineer
Location: NYC, NY
Duration: 6-12+ months
Mode of Interview: Video
KEY Notes Look for:
4-8 years of experience
Network Operations Engineer
This position reports to the Director of Infrastructure and Security and carries responsibility for the health, performance, and evolution of the organization's network. The role sits at the intersection of several teams - Information Security, Systems, and Helpdesk - and requires working closely with each to keep networking capabilities aligned with company-wide projects and priorities.
Candidates should bring deep, practical experience with Cisco's product line - Nexus and Catalyst switching, ISE, and wireless - along with familiarity operating tools like SolarWinds for network visibility and management. The environment today leans heavily Cisco, but the organization is moving toward a more mixed-vendor, hybrid setup, so a solid grasp of general networking fundamentals - routing, switching, and broader architecture - matters just as much as vendor-specific know-how.
What you'll be doing:
Keeping the network infrastructure running securely, reliably, and in step with current best practices
Partnering with team leads across departments to identify ways to simplify and improve existing support and provisioning workflows
Building and maintaining thorough, easy-to-follow documentation for both legacy and newly implemented systems, and helping share that knowledge across IT to build broader team capability
Working hand-in-hand with the security team on network-related security initiatives
Technology environment includes:
Cisco Nexus and Catalyst (switching and routing)
BGP-based EVPN and Cisco NDFC
BGP-based internet edge configurations
SD-WAN
Cisco and Meraki wireless
SolarWinds NPM/NCM
What we're looking for:
No single candidate will check every box, but strong applicants will bring a good number of the following:
A four-year degree in a technical field, plus roughly seven to eight years of hands-on work supporting Cisco-based network infrastructure
Solid understanding of network architecture and protocols - routing, switching, ACLs, 802.1x, VoIP, VXLAN - along with experience using performance/monitoring tooling
Some exposure to ITSM and project-tracking platforms (ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar)
Strong independent troubleshooting and analytical ability
Comfort working in a lean team, adapting quickly, and openly sharing what you know to help the team grow
Good interpersonal skills - able to build trust with both teammates and the people you support
Clear written and verbal communication, including comfort writing documentation
Solid prioritization and time-management instincts in a fast-moving environment
Attention to detail and genuine interest in ongoing learning
Openness to adapting as tools and requirements shift
A plus, not a requirement: Cisco certifications and hands-on time with Cisco DCNM/NDFC
Thanks & Regards
