Content Designer III

Job at a Glance

This contract Content Designer III will support a large scale digital transformation across customer facing and employee facing platforms within a regulated utility environment. The role blends UX content design and content strategy with operational documentation and knowledge management, ensuring experiences are clear, consistent, accessible, and compliant. This role sits at the intersection of UX, Product, Operations, and Compliance, and will partner closely with UX designers, product managers, engineers, subject matter experts, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• UX Content Design and Content Strategy
• Design and deliver user centered content that supports digital products, features, and transactional journeys
• Ensure content aligns with UX style guidelines, brand standards, SEO goals, and accessibility requirements
• Actively participate in the UX product lifecycle including discovery, ideation, design, delivery, and iteration
• Lead content workstreams from planning and strategy through production
• Conduct content audits, identify gaps, and recommend improvements based on research and performance insights
• Optimize content using SEO best practices and keyword research
• Develop and maintain taxonomies and content governance models
• Create tools, templates, and guidelines that help teams scale high quality content
• Facilitate or contribute to vision and ideation workshops
• Operational Content and Documentation
• Create, update, and maintain SOPs, process flows, work instructions, job aids, and training materials
• Translate complex operational and technical processes into clear, usable documentation
• Partner with process owners and subject matter experts to ensure documentation reflects current state workflows
• Maintain content within knowledge management or agent portal tools
• Drive consistency, standardization, and documentation governance
• Identify and communicate process changes impacting downstream teams
• Support training initiatives with concise, user friendly documentation
• Cross Functional Collaboration
• Partner effectively with UX designers, product managers, engineers, researchers, and operations leaders
• Balance hands on content creation with strategic recommendations
• Operate comfortably in a regulated, compliance driven environment
• Participate in emergency or storm assignments as required to support business continuity

Required Skills

• Bachelors degree required Portfolio included in submission
• 5 plus years of experience in content design, UX writing, content strategy, and or process documentation
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize input from multiple stakeholders into effective, user focused content
• Experience working in complex, technical, or operational environments
• Understanding of accessibility fundamentals and inclusive content practices
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and content or documentation tools
• Comfortable working on site in a hybrid environment

Preferred Skills

• Experience in regulated industries such as utilities, banking, insurance, healthcare, or telecom
• Experience designing content for authenticated transactions such as ecommerce, banking, or telecom portals
• Familiarity with design systems and component libraries
• Knowledge of content management systems
• Background in knowledge management, SOP governance, or training documentation
• Documentation or UX related certifications
