Job Title: Senior MongoDB Database Administrator (Linux Platform)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior MongoDB Database Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our MongoDB database infrastructure on Linux-based systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in MongoDB administration, performance tuning, backup/restore processes, security, and high availability, along with strong knowledge of Linux OS and shell scripting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain MongoDB instances (standalone, replica sets, sharded clusters) on Linux systems.
• Monitor and ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability of MongoDB databases.
• Perform database tuning and optimization (indexes, query analysis, caching strategies).
• Design and implement backup/recovery strategies using tools like mongodump, Ops Manager, or third-party solutions.
• Implement and manage security policies including user roles, authentication, and encryption (at rest and in transit).
• Plan and execute MongoDB version upgrades and patch management with minimal downtime.
• Support disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Set up and manage replication, sharding, and horizontal scaling
• Automate routine tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible scripts.
• Work with developers and DevOps teams to support schema design, deployment, and CI/CD integration.
• Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Participate in on-call rotation and support critical incidents.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7+ years working specifically with MongoDB.
• Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB deployment, tuning, and management on Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
• Expertise in configuring and managing replica sets, sharding, journaling, and WiredTiger/MMAPv1storage engines.
• Strong scripting experience (Shell, Bash, Python, or similar) for automation.
• In-depth knowledge of Linux OS internals, monitoring, and performance diagnostics.
• Experience with MongoDB monitoring tools(Cloud Manager, Ops Manager, Prometheus + Grafana, etc.).
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (Ansible, Git, Jenkins).
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MongoDB Professional Certification.
• Experience with Atlas(MongoDB Cloud).
• Knowledge of other NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, Couchbase) or RDBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience with containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Exposure to compliance and security standards (e.g., SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR).
