Senior AWS DevSecOps / Platform Engineer (Cloud Team Lead)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior AWS DevSecOps / Platform Engineer to lead the design, security, scalability, and reliability of our AWS-based platform. This role will drive a security-first engineering culture while owning DevSecOps practices across CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and cloud security. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on DevSecOps expertise with strong AWS platform architecture experience and the ability to lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers.
As the Senior AWS DevSecOps / Platform Engineer and Cloud Team Lead, you will own the design, security, scalability, and reliability of SK12''s AWS infrastructure. You will lead a team of cloud and platform engineers, champion a security-first culture, and drive the DevSecOps practices that keep millions of young learners connected to their education safely and without interruption.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, build, and own scalable, multi-tenant AWS platform infrastructure with a focus on reliability, performance, and security.
- Lead and mentor a team of cloud and platform engineers, establishing best practices across DevSecOps and cloud architecture.
- Design and enforce Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards using tools such as Terraform or similar frameworks.
- Own and optimize CI/CD pipelines, integrating automated testing, security scanning, and deployment workflows.
- Implement and manage cloud-native security tooling, including CNAPP, vulnerability management, and compliance enforcement.
- Ensure adherence to SOC 2 Type II standards, including audit readiness, evidence collection, and control implementation.
- Evaluate and enhance business continuity and disaster recovery strategies (RTO/RPO), ensuring platform resilience.
- Drive application and infrastructure security practices, including OWASP and source code vulnerability scanning.
- Establish robust observability and analytics capabilities for system performance, security, and operational insights.
- Lead change management processes, ensuring proper documentation, traceability, and audit compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong hands-on experience architecting and operating AWS platforms (not just deploying into them).
- Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring cloud/platform engineering teams.
- Deep expertise in DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD, IaC, and security tooling integration.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (EKS/Kubernetes strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated success implementing security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, OWASP).
- Strong understanding of multi-tenant architectures, disaster recovery, and high-availability systems.
- Experience building and maintaining secure, automated pipelines with integrated QA and security controls.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer).
- Experience leading platform engineering initiatives in high-scale environments.
- Background in implementing advanced observability and analytics solutions.
This version makes it clear the manager wants three things combined:
- Elite DevSecOps/security depth (non-negotiable strength)
- True AWS platform architecture ownership (not just tooling/security)
- Leadership capability to guide a team and own the function end-to-end
