Job Summary

FDOT's Office of Information Technology is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator (Advanced level) to support, manage, and enhance enterprise infrastructure and cloud environments. The role focuses on server administration, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), Microsoft systems, and hybrid infrastructure operations.

The position involves designing, maintaining, and optimizing IT systems while ensuring high availability, performance, security, and compliance across a multi-cloud environment. The candidate will also support automation, DevOps pipelines, and cross-functional infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, maintain, and enhance FDOT's IT infrastructure and server environments
  • Administer and monitor Windows Server environments (2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022)
  • Manage Microsoft IIS, Active Directory, and system configurations
  • Administer and support AWS and Azure cloud environments
  • Monitor system performance (availability, latency, throughput, security)
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, application, and network issues
  • Configure and manage Azure DevOps, Git repositories, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Implement system upgrades, patches, and performance improvements
  • Manage identity, access control, and security configurations
  • Support network infrastructure including TCP/IP, DNS, and file sharing
  • Collaborate with developers, contractors, and internal IT teams
  • Recommend improvements for scalability, cost efficiency, and performance
  • Support middleware platforms and IT automation tools
  • Document and automate administrative processes

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5 8 years IT infrastructure / systems administration experience
  • 2 3 years experience with Windows Server (2012 2022)
  • 2 3 years IIS administration experience
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, NTFS, Samba/CIFS
  • 2 3 years AWS cloud experience (required)
  • Azure cloud experience (preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft server environments
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure/network systems
  • Exposure to middleware (API management, automation tools, batch jobs)

Technical Knowledge

  • AWS services (in-depth)
  • Microsoft Azure services
  • Windows Server administration
  • Linux (RedHat & Ubuntu) administration and patching
  • Networking fundamentals and cloud networking
  • Azure DevOps and Git-based CI/CD
  • Security, identity, and access management
  • Multi-cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, optional Google Cloud Platform)

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
