Position Summary Position SummaryThe Digital and IT Senior Technical Specialist leads the transformation of business vision into digital capabilities. The Digital and IT Senior Technical Specialist will leverage their comprehensive IT and business experience, developed across a broad technology portfolio scope, to lead the strategic vision and roadmap of highly secure and resilient technologies.
The Infrastructure Solutions Architect is a senior technical leadership role responsible for establishing and maturing many of the core infrastructure architecture processes and standards for the organization including technical standards, and long-term technology strategy. This role serves as a core member of the Technical Design Authority (TDA) and plays a pivotal role in infrastructure portfolio management, new technology evaluation, vendor alignment, and strategic roadmap governance.
This architect role will partner with core infrastructure pillars, security, sourcing/vendor management, and business stakeholders to ensure new and existing infrastructure capabilities are strategically aligned, financially justified, and operationally supportable.
Responsibilities- Essential Functions:
- Leads the analysis and evaluation of transformational technologies to guide technology roadmaps including vendor management, statement of work development and budgetary input
- Responsible for global support of technical or business application solutions that span multiple business critical technologies or business functions
- Responsibility on a global basis to define priority across one or more key technology areas on a global basis
- Identifies and recommends technology solutions or improvements in areas outside of technology expertise
- Leads engagement with managed service relationships, ensure service level agreements are honored
- Accountable for implementing & making decisions on Parker values while fostering a safe environment
- IT life-cycle mgmt. methodologies, including design, development, testing, project mgmt. and change mgmt.
- Provides information to management identifying personnel, hardware and software needs to provide appropriate levels of systems and services within the corporation
- Demonstrated understanding of value requirement for technology deployment
- Effectively communicates complex technical/business related issues to management and technical staff and adapt written/verbal/presentation material and style, depending on audience and environment
- Is considered a thought leader across varying technologies and/or business processes, along with general, working knowledge in numerous areas outside of expertise
- Acts as champion of change, developing and implementing improvements to technology delivery processes
- Considered technology owner/subject matter expert for one or more key technology solutions on a global scale delivering value added business results
- Works at a Global / Group level to develop IT solutions to deliver against business goals
- Liaison to large business partner with Functional Stakeholders, third party and technical peers to drive solutions and complex programs
- Works with Department Manager/Leader to evaluate department resourcing needs
- Well-informed of broad business challenges in order to provide solutions that ensure timely and accurate delivery of services
- Demonstrates a high degree of emotional intelligence and organizational awareness.
- Maintains professional and strong relationships with business partners, contractors, and stakeholders
- Ability to travel as needed
- Available to provide after-hours technical support as needed
- Key Responsibilities & Contributions:
- Technical Design Authority (TDA)
- Key member of the Technical Design Authority, reviewing and approving all infrastructure-related solution designs.
- Ensure designs comply with enterprise architecture principles, security standards, resiliency requirements, and cloud/on-prem strategy.
- Define and maintain infrastructure reference architectures, design patterns, and technical standards.
- Review architectural impact assessments for infrastructure-related changes presented to the CAB.
- Review current infrastructure standards and baselines; identify gaps, redundancies, and modernization needs to support resiliency, security, and compliance (i.e. CMMC).
- Provide architectural guidance and escalation support for complex or high-risk infrastructure initiatives.
- Infrastructure Portfolio Management
- Maintain an authoritative inventory of infrastructure platforms, services, and technical capabilities across the enterprise.
- Assist with efforts to inventory and maintain a single, authoritative inventory of infrastructure platforms, services, and technical capabilities across the enterprise.
- Identify technology overlaps, end-of-life platforms, technical debt, and consolidation opportunities.
- Partner with IT Leadership, Product Owners, and Finance to:
- Track infrastructure investments.
- Identify "run vs. grow vs. transform" spend.
- Support rationalization and cost optimization initiatives.
- Produce portfolio health dashboards including lifecycle, risk, supportability, and strategic alignment metrics.
- New Technology Selection & Review Process
- Own and operate the New Technology Intake & Review Framework including:
- Business case validation
- Architecture fit assessment
- Security & compliance alignment
- Operational readiness & supportability
- Lead technical evaluation sessions, proof-of-concept reviews, and scoring models.
- Determine whether requested capabilities already exist within the current technology stack or require new product adoption.
- Ensure all new technology selections align with approved strategic roadmaps & architectural guardrails.
- Technology Strategy Governance & Reporting
- Translate enterprise technology strategy into actionable infrastructure roadmaps.
- Partner with IT Leaders to ensure infrastructure capabilities align to future business capabilities.
- Produce executive-level governance reporting including:
- Strategic alignment scorecards
- Technology lifecycle status
- Risk & technical debt heatmaps
- New initiative impact analysis
- Support IT leadership forums with data-driven insights on platform direction, investment priorities, and modernization progress.
- Vendor Alignment & Strategic Partner Engagement
- Act as infrastructure architecture liaison to strategic technology partners and vendors.
- Coordinate and lead architecture participation in Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) including:
- Review of roadmap alignment
- Innovation pipelines
- Platform maturity & lifecycle posture
- Assess emerging vendor innovations and determine fit within the enterprise strategy.
- Ensure vendors clearly differentiate:
- Existing services we already own or operate
- Enhancements to current platforms
- Net-new service offerings aligned to strategic outcomes.
Qualifications- Required Qualifications
- 4-year University / College Degree and significant technical / business certifications.
- 10+ years' experience in Information Technology with experience in infrastructure architecture, engineering, or enterprise architecture roles.
- Demonstrated experience operating within a Technical Design Authority or Architecture Review Board.
- Deep knowledge across:
- Hybrid cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/Google Cloud Platform)
- Network, compute, storage, virtualization, identity, and security infrastructure
- Proven experience with portfolio rationalization, lifecycle management, and technology governance.
- Strong vendor management and strategic partner engagement experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to maintain professional and strong relationships with business partners, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate Agile methodologies and can apply those processes to everyday work.
- Experience in security best practices and compliance requirements for area of expertise.
