Information System Security Officer

Our organization is in search of a driven, career-focused, and customer-oriented Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to become a part of our team in Chantilly, VA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure that network nodes are operated, maintained, and disposed of in alignment with established security policies and practices.
• Carry out ISSO responsibilities to support both internal and external clients, while also serving as the alternate Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM).
• Manage cybersecurity documentation (compliance) and Information Assurance (IA) controls.
• Create supporting documentation and implement standards, directives, guidance, policies, and security controls for classified computing environments in accordance with Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 503.
• Utilize various Risk Management Framework implementation methods, including but not limited to JSIG, CNSSI 1253, NIST SP 800-53, and DoDM- (NISPOM).
• Assist in the preparation and review of documentation such as System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports (RAR), Security Controls Traceability Matrix (SCTM), and other Assessment & Authorization (A&A) artifacts.
• Learn to conduct independent scans of applications, networks, and databases using tools like Nessus, DISA STIGS compliance checks, and SCAP (SCC).

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor s Degree along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Experience may include professional roles, internships, lab work, or coursework. Alternatively, an additional 2 years of experience may be accepted in place of a degree.
• At least 1 year of experience with Risk Management Framework, JSIG, or comparable security frameworks.
• Must be compliant with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570/8140, achieving IAT Level III within 6 months of hire.
• Possess strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, along with interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, effective listening, multitasking capabilities, communication proficiency, organizational skills, and presentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Capability to obtain and maintain customer system accreditations throughout the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience in providing continuous monitoring, conducting security reviews, and performing technical inspections to enforce security policies, controls, and procedures while addressing identified vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
• Able to thrive in a team setting and perform well under pressure.

Security Clearance Requirements:

• Must hold a current and active Top-Secret/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph.
• Eligibility for access to Special Access Program (SAP) information.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be capable of remaining in a stationary position for up to 75% of the time.
• Must be able to navigate within the office to access file cabinets and office equipment.
• Must be able to position oneself to manage office supplies on shelves of varying heights.
• This role frequently involves communication with colleagues, management, and clients, which may include delivering presentations.
• Must be able to convey accurate information in these interactions.
