About the Role
Our client is a global leader in manufacturing and sustainability solutions, supporting customers across industrial, commercial, and service environments. They are seeking an experienced Application Developer to design, develop, implement, and support business-critical applications built on IBM i (AS/400) technologies. This role supports core operational systems used worldwide and requires someone who can work independently, collaborate across teams, and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain purchased and custom application solutions using RPG/400, RPGILE/400, DB2/400, CL/400, and other IBM technologies. You will apply functional business knowledge to develop, code, test, and implement individual components while following established lifecycle methodologies and maintaining accurate technical documentation. Responsibilities include enhancing and supporting deployed applications, leading components of development projects, partnering with vendors and customers, and providing training to fellow IT Developers.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, enhance, and support the design of business applications, with a primary focus on international operations
- Write technical specifications and provide technical recommendations
- Test and review computer and business applications developed using RPG technologies
- Design DB2/400 and SQL databases and coordinate physical database changes
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Train other IT Developers on new systems or development work completed
Required
- 8 or more years of programming experience
- 6 or more years of hands-on development in RPGIV or RPGILE/400
- 6 or more years working with IBM iSeries technologies, including SQL, CL, SDA, and RDA
- Experience designing DB2/400 and SQL databases
- Experience with IBM AS/400
- Experience with JSON and API technologies supporting service-based applications
- Excellent communication skills with internal and external customers
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into functional application solutions
