Job Overview

We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support the State of Virginia in analyzing, designing, and documenting business systems and processes. The selected candidate will work closely with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and development teams to document requirements, analyze data flows, and support system design.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with business process documentation, process flows, data classification, and requirements analysis while working in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and user needs.

• Create and document business process flows, system workflows, and data classification.

• Gather and document functional and non-functional requirements.

• Develop use cases, process diagrams, UML and BPMN diagrams.

• Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions.

• Analyze business issues and data challenges to identify opportunities for improvement.

• Document technical requirements and system specifications.

• Plan and document system data flow and process integration.

• Collaborate with software architects, developers, and vendors during the development lifecycle.

• Assist development teams by providing flowcharts, use cases, and documentation.

• Ensure new technical requirements integrate with existing processes and systems.

• Support creation of documentation, standards, procedures, and user manuals.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience as a Business Systems Analyst / Business Analyst.

• Experience creating process flows, business process documentation, and system workflows.

• Knowledge of data classification and data analysis.

• Experience with requirements gathering and documentation.

• Strong experience with UML and BPMN diagrams.

• Experience working in Agile development environments.

• Ability to conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and JAD sessions.

• Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
