Site Reliability Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer in Chicago, IL.

Summary:
We are seeking high-caliber engineering talent to help modernize and elevate software development practices across a large-scale enterprise environment. This role extends beyond traditional development and offers the opportunity to influence how software systems are designed, built, secured, tested, deployed, and operated at scale. You will contribute to advancing reusable architecture, reliability engineering, cloud-native design, DevSecOps maturity, and modern testing practices. This role will also help embed quality, automation, and AI-assisted development practices into day-to-day engineering workflows, enabling autonomous teams to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure products.

Duties:
* Design, develop, document, test, and troubleshoot enterprise-grade applications
* Define and promote engineering standards focused on scalability, reliability, and maintainability
* Contribute to architecture reviews and strategic technology decisions
* Analyze and modernize legacy systems to improve performance and operational stability
* Implement automated quality assurance processes and meaningful engineering metrics
* Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate
* Partner closely with product, design, QA, security, and platform teams
* Contribute to governance models that balance speed, risk management, and compliance
* Continuously improve production systems using data-driven reliability practices

REQUIREMENTS:
* Strong experience with public cloud platforms, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices
* Experience with enterprise API management, service mesh, and observability platforms
* Deep expertise in API design, cloud-native architecture, and distributed systems
* Hands-on knowledge of SRE principles such as SLIs/SLOs, observability, incident response, and reliability metrics
* Advocate for advanced automated testing and quality engineering
* Interested in responsibly integrating AI into engineering workflows
* Comfortable operating in autonomous, cross-functional teams
* Strong technical communicator capable of influencing engineering practices at scale

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
