Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Salesforce Data Cloud Engineer to support the design, implementation, and optimization of a unified customer data platform. This role is focused on building and enabling identity resolution, data modeling, and activation capabilities within Salesforce Data Cloud (Data 360).
This is not an architecture-only role. The ideal candidate will have direct, hands-on experience ( hands-on keyboard ) working within Salesforce Data Cloud and be able to clearly articulate and demonstrate real-world implementations from data ingestion through activation.
You will partner closely with engineering, marketing, and CRM teams to enable high-quality, unified customer profiles and activate those profiles across downstream platforms.
Required Hands-On Salesforce Data Cloud Experience
Candidates must have real-world, hands-on experience working within Salesforce Data Cloud (Data 360). This includes:
- Configuring and managing data ingestion pipelines
- Building and maintaining Data Model Objects (DMOs) and Data Graphs
- Implementing identity resolution strategies (deterministic and probabilistic matching)
- Enabling activation workflows and downstream data usage
- Working directly within the platform to configure calculations, segmentation, and activation pipelines
Candidates must be able to walk through end-to-end implementations, not just describe concepts.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize Salesforce Data Cloud pipelines and data models
- Implement and manage identity resolution processes, including matching rules and unified profile creation
- Configure and maintain:
- Data Model Objects (DMOs)
- Data Graphs
- Calculated Insights
- Develop and support segmentation and activation workflows across Marketing Cloud, CRM, and external platforms
- Enable and optimize Salesforce Data Cloud capabilities beyond ingestion, including activation and downstream use cases
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across all stages of the data lifecycle
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable Data Cloud solutions
- Support ongoing enhancements and optimization of the customer data platform
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, CDP, or CRM platforms
- 2+ years of hands-on Salesforce Data Cloud (Data 360) experience strongly preferred
- Proven experience working with:
- Data Model Objects (DMOs)
- Data Graphs
- Identity resolution frameworks
- Segmentation and activation workflows
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with large-scale datasets
- Experience with data ingestion, transformation, and modeling workflows
- Understanding of customer data platforms (CDP) and master data management (MDM) concepts
- Experience integrating and activating data across downstream systems (Marketing Cloud, CRM, etc.)
- Ability to clearly explain technical implementations and design decisions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with streaming or event-driven data pipelines (Kafka, Kinesis, etc.)
- Experience with data warehouse platforms (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Snowflake)
- Experience with Python, dbt, or similar tools
- Experience with Reverse ETL or customer data activation tools
- Exposure to Salesforce ecosystem tools (Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud, etc.)
What Strong Candidates Will Demonstrate
- Ability to clearly explain how unified customer profiles are created and leveraged
- Deep understanding of identity resolution and post-resolution processes
- Experience implementing end-to-end Data Cloud solutions (ingestion resolution activation)
- Ability to discuss real-world challenges and how they were solved
- Strong understanding of how Salesforce Data Cloud capabilities are configured and used in practice
Candidates Will Not Be Considered If They
- Only have conceptual or theoretical knowledge of Salesforce Data Cloud
- Cannot explain what happens after identity resolution
- Lack hands-on experience with:
- Activation workflows
- Platform configuration
- Data Cloud implementation
- Primarily have generic data engineering or MDM experience without Salesforce Data Cloud exposure
Work Environment
- Highly collaborative team with frequent working sessions and real-time problem solving
- Fast-paced environment focused on delivering scalable data solutions
- Remote candidates must be available during core Central Time working hours
Why This Role Matters
This role is critical to advancing the organization s ability to build and activate unified customer profiles, enabling more effective marketing, analytics, and customer engagement strategies.
