Backend Java Developer

Role Overview
The client is seeking a senior-level backend developer with extensive hands-on coding experience. The primary responsibility will be designing and building RESTful services using modern Java and Spring frameworks, while deploying and maintaining applications in AWS cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement well-defined Spring RESTful APIs.
• Build and maintain scalable backend services.
• Deploy software using Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
• Manage deployments and infrastructure in AWS (preferred), with exposure to other cloud platforms acceptable.
• Work with AWS services such as API Gateway, ALB, NLB, Lambda, S3, CloudFormation, etc.
• Develop applications using both relational and NoSQL databases.
• Collaborate in Agile/Scrum frameworks, using Azure DevOps to manage sprints.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience with Java 17+ and backend development.
• Strong expertise in RESTful API design and implementation.
• Proven experience deploying applications in AWS cloud environments.
• Solid understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL).
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
• Active participation in Agile/Scrum teams.
• Must demonstrate current, hands-on coding experience.

Candidate Profile

• Local candidates preferred; expected to be in-office 2 days per week (Mondays and Wednesdays as anchor days).
• Flexibility required as this may shift to 5 days in-office in the future.
• Relocation candidates will only be considered if they have a strong reason for moving to Chicago.
• Candidates with a history of short-term projects will not be prioritized.
