The Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center is seeking a skilled and motivated Engineering Supervisor to assist in the daily operations of the Engineering department. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, leading by example, and ensuring the property is safe, functional, and well-maintained for both guests and associates.

From guest rooms to critical building systems, you'll play a key role in keeping our hotel operating at its best.

Schedule & Pay
  • Pay range: $20 - $22/hour, based on experience
  • Full-time position (40 hours/week)
  • Non-exempt, overtime eligible position
  • Schedule will flex between mid-shift and 2nd shift, including weekends and holidays as needed

What You'll Do

As the Assistant Director of Engineering, you'll support the Director in leading the department and ensuring the property is maintained to the highest standards.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supervise, direct, and support engineering team members to ensure quality work and timely completion
  • Assist in coordinating daily maintenance operations and departmental priorities
  • Perform and support preventative maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems
  • Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and exterior spaces
  • Respond to maintenance requests and guest concerns in a timely, professional manner
  • Assist with project coordination, vendor relationships, and contractor oversight
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the department
  • Identify and address safety hazards to ensure a safe environment for guests and associates
  • Support training, coaching, and development of engineering team members
  • Maintain clear communication with leadership and cross-functional departments
  • Complete daily reports and documentation as required

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who leads with accountability, stays hands-on, and takes pride in maintaining a high-quality environment.

Ideal candidates will have:
  • Experience in hotel engineering, facilities maintenance, or a related field
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical)
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve maintenance issues
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Knowledge of safety standards, OSHA compliance, and preventative maintenance programs
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools

Technical certifications or a related degree are a plus, but not required.
