Data Architect

Introduction:

The Data Architect will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of a multi-zone AWS data architecture, conducting assessments of current data systems, collaborating with stakeholders, and recommending appropriate AWS services and tools.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of a multi-zone AWS data architecture.
• Conduct a comprehensive assessment of current on-premises and cloud data systems.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
• Recommend appropriate AWS services and tools for ingestion, transformation, storage, analytics, and reporting.
• Define and enforce enterprise data standards, modeling conventions, governance practices, and compliance requirements.
• Implement best practices for data security, access control, and regulatory compliance within the AWS environment.
• Oversee data quality frameworks to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliable business metrics.
• Evaluate and integrate AWS-native and third-party tools to optimize performance and reduce operational complexity.
• Develop a roadmap and transition plan for migrating to the proposed AWS architecture.
• Mentor and guide data engineers and analysts on architecture principles and best practices.
• Monitor emerging AWS technologies and industry trends to enhance platform capabilities.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 15+ years in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Enterprise Data Platform roles.
• At least 5-6 years in enterprise-level architecture and cloud modernization leadership.
• At least 7-8 years in hands-on data development (ETL/ELT, SQL, modeling, pipeline design).
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services (S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, Lake Formation, EMR).
• Proven experience in cloud migration and multi-database environments.
• Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred/Nice to Have:

• Experience with BI tools (Quick Sight Reporting, Tableau, Looker) and self-service analytics.
• Exposure to DevOps practices for data pipelines.
• Familiarity with big data frameworks (Spark, Hadoop) and AI/ML integration.
• Previous experience in cross-functional, global teams.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (preferred).
• AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty (highly desirable).
• Any other cloud/data certifications (e.g., Snowflake, Google Cloud Platform/Azure knowledge a plus).
