Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Tax & Accounting Professional to join our growing team. This role requires someone who can manage client engagements from start to finish — from accounting work and bookkeeping support to complex tax return preparation. While a bookkeeper supports our workflow, this role must independently manage client files and deliver comprehensive accounting and tax services.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and file a wide range of tax returns, including but not limited to:
1040 (Individual)
1065 (Partnership)
1120 / 1120S (Corporations)
990 (Exempt Organizations)
Payroll & Sales Tax Returns
IT-204-LL and other state filings
Conduct full-cycle accounting work for clients, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
Provide bookkeeping support and oversight, working closely with our bookkeeping staff when necessary.
Interact directly with clients to gather data, answer questions, and deliver high-quality service.
Assist with tax planning, projections, and client advisory services.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
Maintain organized and accurate documentation for all client files.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of progressive experience in tax preparation and accounting roles, preferably in a public accounting environment.
Demonstrated ability to handle client work from start to finish with minimal supervision.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations.
Proficiency with ProSystem fx Tax & Accounting software required.
Excellent communication and client service skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple engagements under deadlines.
Preferred Skills
Experience preparing a breadth of federal and state tax returns.
Familiarity with payroll and sales tax filing processes.
Ability to train or mentor junior staff and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Educational Qualifications:
- Required - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or closely related or equivalent.
- Preferred - Master’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Big Data or Analytics or equivalent.
Travel:
· Open to travel based up on the nature of the engagement.
