IMPORTANT CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must currently reside within commuting distance of East Peoria/Peoria, IL and be available to work onsite 5 days per week.

This is a direct W-2 contract position. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future employment sponsorship.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with strong hands-on Cisco LAN implementation, operations, and troubleshooting experience.

This position will support complex LAN environments and network projects across multiple locations. The Network Engineer will diagnose and resolve LAN issues, configure and support Cisco switching environments, collaborate with infrastructure teams, and support network changes involving firewall, VPN, wireless, NAC, and related technologies.

This is a hands-on networking role requiring strong knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, IP subnetting, OSPF, VLANs, VLAN trunking, QoS, switching, and physical network infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve LAN and network connectivity issues.
• Configure, implement, and support Cisco switches and LAN infrastructure.
• Replace defective network components as needed.
• Respond to LAN development and production support requests.
• Troubleshoot switching, VLAN, routing, connectivity, and network performance issues.
• Configure and troubleshoot VLANs and VLAN trunking.
• Support OSPF routing environments.
• Troubleshoot TCP/IP, Ethernet, QoS, and IP subnetting issues.
• Support copper and fiber network cabling.
• Work with business partners and vendors on infrastructure integration.
• Collaborate with firewall, VPN, wireless, NAC, and other infrastructure teams to plan and execute network changes.
• Follow ITSM processes and maintain documentation for network changes.
• Design and implement processes and process improvements for LAN development and support.
• Advise business partners regarding technical LAN questions and issues.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for critical incidents, including occasional off-shift and weekend support.
• Support network-related projects across multiple locations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5–7 years of progressively responsible Network Engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on LAN implementation, operations, and support experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco switches and Cisco networking equipment.
• Strong TCP/IP fundamentals.
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet and switching.
• Strong IP subnetting skills.
• Experience with OSPF.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting VLANs and VLAN trunking.
• Understanding of QoS.
• Experience with copper and fiber cabling.
• Experience troubleshooting LAN connectivity and performance issues.
• Knowledge of network risk domains and tiered domains.
• Experience working with medium-to-large enterprise network environments.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other network and infrastructure teams.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Four-year degree in a computer-related or engineering-related field with 5–7 years of relevant Network Engineering experience; OR
• Equivalent work experience with a minimum of 8 years of relevant Network Engineering experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
• Experience with Cisco DNA Center / Catalyst Center.
• Wireless networking experience.
• Experience with network automation technologies and scripting.
• Experience supporting medium-to-large enterprise environments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Schedule: Monday-Friday, first shift
• Contract Duration: 12 months
• Travel: Up to 25% within the United States as needed
• On-call rotation includes occasional off-shift and weekend support

INTERVIEW PROCESS

Candidates should be prepared for an in-person technical interview and hands-on networking lab. Candidates who successfully complete the lab will proceed to the next portion of the interview.
