Cloud Data and AI Engineers

Varmoda is seeking a Lead Cloud Data & AI Engineer / Solutions Architect (Google Cloud Platform) to design and deliver scalable cloud data, AI/ML, and lakehouse solutions on Google Cloud Platform. The role requires strong customer-facing architecture experience, deep Google Cloud Platform data expertise, and familiarity with U.S. Public Sector security environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect Google Cloud Platform data and lakehouse solutions using BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Composer, Pub/Sub, and dbt.

• Design and optimize relational and distributed database solutions.

• Develop and operationalize ML models and LLM pipelines using Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and MLOps tools.

• Lead customer architecture discussions, workshops, and cloud implementation engagements.

• Support secure Public Sector solutions, including DoD IL5/IL6 environments.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with relational/distributed databases such as PostgreSQL, AlloyDB, Oracle, and Cloud SQL.

• Strong expertise across the Google Cloud Platform data ecosystem.

• Experience with database performance tuning, replication, and migrations.

• Experience developing and deploying AI/ML and LLM solutions.

• Strong B2B/customer-facing cloud architecture and advisory experience.

• U.S. Citizenship required.

• Ability to support on-site/customer deployments in Reston, VA as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph strongly preferred.

• Google Cloud Platform Professional certifications in Data Engineering, ML Engineering, Cloud Architecture, or Database Engineering.

• Public Sector cloud implementation experience.

• Familiarity with DoD IL5/IL6 requirements.

Certifications & Clearance

• U.S. Citizenship: Required

• TS/SCI + Polygraph: Strongly preferred, not mandatory

• Google Cloud Platform Professional Certifications: Preferred
