Microsoft 365 Developer

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Microsoft 365 / AI-Assisted Application Developer to design, develop, deploy, and support internal business applications using Microsoft 365, GitHub Copilot, and AI coding agents.

The developer will work closely with IT stakeholders, business partners, and functional users to understand requirements and translate business needs into secure, scalable, browser-based applications.

The role will leverage GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted development to accelerate solution design and coding. The developer will be responsible for prompting AI tools based on documented requirements, reviewing AI-generated code, performing testing, coordinating UAT, deploying applications, integrating with enterprise systems, and ensuring production reliability and security.

Key Responsibilities

AI-Assisted Development

• Use GitHub Copilot, including Chat, Agent Mode, and coding agents, to plan, build, enhance, and refactor applications.
• Prompt AI coding tools using documented requirements, specifications, and standard application designs.
• Review AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, scalability, and maintainability before deployment.
• Maintain repository-level Copilot instructions, development standards, skills, and open-item documentation to provide appropriate context to AI agents.
• Create clear technical specifications and acceptance criteria that can be understood by both AI agents and development teams.

Quality, Deployment & Operations

• Develop, execute, and enhance automated tests and builds where applicable.
• Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Package and deploy solutions across SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, and Copilot environments.
• Manage Development, QA/Test, and Production environments.
• Monitor scheduled jobs, workflows, logs, exit codes, and failure alerts, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate fixes with IT teams.
• Manage application registrations, certificates, Microsoft Graph permissions, Sites.Selected permissions, and Entra ID integrations in coordination with Microsoft 365 administrators.

Collaboration & Application Support

• Partner with business users, IT Business Partners, functional teams, and data owners to gather requirements and convert them into technical specifications.
• Coordinate with infrastructure teams to configure and host applications across DEV, QA, and Production environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional, cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance teams for application reviews, including GDPR requirements where applicable.
• Create and maintain user guides, technical documentation, administrator documentation, and operational runbooks.
• Support application pilots, UAT, deployment, and user training.
• Provide L2/L3 support for assigned business applications.

Required Skills

• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to manage solutions from requirements gathering through development, deployment, and production support.

• Experience with Node.js development tooling such as npm, Heft/Gulp, and webpack.
• Strong development experience with Git and GitHub, including branches, pull requests, code reviews, and repository management.
• Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot or similar AI coding/development tools.
• Working knowledge of:

• API permissions
• SharePoint Lists and permissions
• Ability to convert non-technical business requirements into simple, maintainable technical solutions.
• Strong written communication skills for technical specifications, AI prompts/instructions, and user documentation.
• Ability to work independently within a small IT team while coordinating with multiple business and technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot extensibility, including declarative agents, Microsoft 365 Agents Toolkit / Teams Toolkit, and API plugins.
• Experience implementing CI/CD using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with ERP systems in manufacturing or enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of secure coding, least-privilege access design, application security, and GDPR/data privacy requirements.
