Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Architect with strong telecommunications industry experience to support a large-scale on-premises to AWS migration initiative for IBM/AT&T.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing application migration strategies, developing AWS cloud architectures, creating project roadmaps, and presenting technical migration plans to senior management and stakeholders.

Previous AT&T experience is highly preferred but not mandatory. Strong telecommunications industry experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze existing application migration documentation, architecture documents, and project roadmaps.
• Develop and refine comprehensive migration roadmaps for moving applications from on-premises environments to AWS.
• Assess application architectures, dependencies, data sources, integrations, and infrastructure requirements.
• Evaluate different AWS migration strategies and recommend appropriate approaches based on application requirements.
• Design scalable, secure, highly available, and cost-effective AWS architectures.
• Develop solution designs and migration strategies for large application portfolios.
• Identify migration risks, dependencies, constraints, and potential technical challenges.
• Work closely with application, infrastructure, network, security, data, and business teams.
• Create technical presentations and communicate migration strategies to IBM and AT&T management.
• Present, explain, and defend migration documents, architecture decisions, and project roadmaps to senior stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance throughout the migration lifecycle.
• Help establish standards and repeatable patterns for migrating multiple applications to AWS.
• Ensure migration plans align with enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and operational requirements.

Required Skills

• Strong experience in Application Architecture.
• Hands-on experience migrating applications from on-premises environments to AWS.
• Strong AWS Cloud Architecture experience.
• Experience with AWS solution design and architecture.
• Experience developing cloud migration strategies and roadmaps.
• Ability to analyze application dependencies, data sources, infrastructure, and integration points.
• Experience evaluating multiple AWS migration options and selecting appropriate approaches.
• Strong experience presenting technical solutions to senior management and executive stakeholders.
• Ability to create, communicate, and defend technical architecture and migration decisions.
• Experience migrating multiple applications or large application portfolios to AWS.
• Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Industry Requirement

Telecommunications experience is mandatory.

Candidates with previous AT&T experience are strongly preferred, although direct AT&T experience is not required.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with large enterprise-scale AWS migration programs.
• Experience with application portfolio assessment and discovery.
• Experience developing migration waves and application prioritization strategies.
• Experience with AWS migration patterns such as rehost, replatform, refactor, repurchase, retain, and retire.
• Experience with enterprise application dependencies and data migration.
• Experience working with cross-functional architecture and infrastructure teams.
• Experience presenting technical roadmaps to enterprise clients and management.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an experienced AWS Migration / Solution Architect who can do more than create architecture documents. You should be comfortable reviewing existing migration plans, challenging assumptions, identifying gaps, proposing alternatives, and presenting and defending the final migration strategy to IBM and AT&T management.

A strong example would be someone who has led or architected the migration of a large number of enterprise applications from on-premises environments to AWS.
