  • Initiate and oversee the development of prototypes to test new database architectures and technologies, ensuring alignment with system requirements.
  • Conduct a thorough assessment of cloud technologies, selecting those that promise enhanced performance and high availability for the database infrastructure.
  • Strategically plan database migrations, adopting industry-leading practices to facilitate a smooth transition.
  • Provide expert management of databases within the cloud environment, including both self-managed and Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) models.
  • Execute routine database administration and maintenance duties, including database security, audits, and other standard tasks.
  • Forge and maintain collaborative relationships with vendors, application teams, and clients to ensure the delivery of secure, efficient, and scalable database systems.
  • Uphold and enforce compliance with SOX, STIG, and other relevant standards and policies across all database operations.

Qualifications

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related discipline with 5+ years of IT experience, or a master's and 3+ years of experience. An additional 4+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2+ years of experience specializing in AWS Cloud technologies.
  • Must have a certification specific to AWS Cloud technologies.
  • A strong background with nine or more years in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-scale Oracle databases systems.
  • Proficiency in performing routine database administration and maintenance operations.
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills, conducive to thriving in a lean and dynamic work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in the execution of public sector and government-related cloud migration and digital transformation projects.
  • A high degree of competency with relational database management systems (RDBMS).
  • A broad understanding of various databases and technologies, including both structured databases and unstructured data stores.
  • Experience in the design and operation of highly available, distributed infrastructure systems.
  • Technical fluency with the architecture and service portfolios of both AWS and Azure cloud ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with automated database provisioning, management, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines would be advantageous.
  • A strong track record of working within an Agile development framework.
  • A history of providing and advancing operational support standards for teams involved in DevSecOps, as well as Data Warehousing and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
