Senior Software Engineer (Kubernetes)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce is partnering with a large, privately held North American distributor located in Waukegan, IL that is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Kubernetes). This company is operating across eCommerce, logistics, and supply chain operations. They are actively investing in modernizing its technology stack, including transitioning to cloud-native architectures, containerization, and microservices to support continued growth.

Job Description:
A Senior Software Engineer (Kubernetes) plays a key role in designing and building the next generation of a technology platform. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on microservices architecture, containerization, and cloud-native development. This Senior Software Engineer will be a key part of the transition to a resilient, always-on platform, partnering with architects and engineering teams to deliver scalable, high-performance systems.

Key Responsibilities:
* Design, build, and deploy cloud-native applications using modern microservices architecture
* Develop and maintain services using Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs
* Deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes platforms (RedHat OpenShift preferred)
* Partner with architecture teams to implement scalable, distributed system designs
* Contribute to and optimize CI/CD pipelines
* Improve system observability, monitoring, and reliability (Grafana, Dynatrace, ELK, etc.)
* Collaborate cross-functionally with product, architecture, and infrastructure teams
* Mentor junior engineers and drive engineering best practices

REQUIREMENTS:
* 8+ years of software engineering experience
* 2+ years of experience with Kubernetes / container orchestration (OpenShift preferred)
* Strong experience with Java + Spring Boot
* Hands-on experience building microservices architectures
* Experience working with cloud-native applications and distributed systems
* Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
* Excellent communication and ability to work across teams

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
