Summary

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Power & Interface IC Supply Chain R&D Engineer with strong expertise in semiconductor component engineering, power management and interface IC technologies, supplier qualification, reliability engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI), and supplier quality management. The ideal candidate will serve as the technical owner for Power Management IC (PMIC) and Interface IC suppliers, ensuring component quality, reliability, manufacturing readiness, and supply continuity for enterprise storage products.

This role requires a highly motivated semiconductor professional with deep technical knowledge of analog and mixed-signal IC technologies, power delivery architectures, high-speed interface signaling, component qualification methodologies, and supplier technical management. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with hardware engineering, package engineering, supplier quality, manufacturing partners, logistics, and international suppliers to drive supplier performance, mitigate supply risks, and support new product development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Hardware Design Engineering, Package Engineering, Signal Integrity, Power Integrity, Quality, Logistics, and supplier organizations to develop and manage the technical supply base for Power and Interface IC components.
  • Serve as the technical owner for Power Management IC (PMIC) and Interface IC suppliers, ensuring component quality, reliability, manufacturing readiness, and long-term supply continuity.
  • Develop, qualify, and manage semiconductor component suppliers and OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) partners to meet capacity, quality, reliability, and delivery objectives.
  • Coordinate technical reviews between internal engineering teams and supplier application, process, and manufacturing organizations to evaluate device selection, package options, process technologies, and component revisions.
  • Own the component qualification matrix and technical qualification process for power and interface ICs used in enterprise storage products.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by supporting supplier selection, qualification planning, risk assessments, technology reviews, and production readiness.
  • Establish supplier performance metrics and technical scorecards tracking quality, yield, on-time delivery (OTD), responsiveness, reliability, and manufacturing performance.
  • Drive supplier continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield enhancement, process optimization, cycle-time reduction, and overall manufacturing excellence.
  • Develop and execute dual-source and second-source qualification strategies to reduce supply chain risks and improve component availability.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality Engineering teams to manage supplier quality excursions through containment activities, root cause analysis (8D), corrective actions, and component re-qualification.
  • Champion Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DFR) initiatives by facilitating technical collaboration between suppliers, OSAT partners, and internal engineering organizations.
  • Support semiconductor reliability qualification activities including JEDEC qualification methodologies, reliability testing, and manufacturing process validation.
  • Analyze manufacturing, quality, yield, and reliability data to identify risks, recommend corrective actions, and improve supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with international semiconductor suppliers and OSAT partners across the United States, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan.
  • Represent the Power and Interface IC Supply Chain function during NPI program reviews, technical design reviews, supplier meetings, and executive status discussions.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for technical supplier issues requiring cross-functional engineering support.
  • Communicate technical risks, mitigation strategies, supplier performance, qualification status, and program updates to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, supplier qualification requirements, reliability objectives, and quality management processes.
  • Stay current with emerging semiconductor technologies, packaging advancements, reliability methodologies, and supplier manufacturing capabilities to support future product development initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Semiconductor Supply Chain Engineering, Component Engineering, Product Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or Supplier Quality Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct experience supporting Power Management ICs (PMICs), Interface ICs, Analog ICs, or Mixed-Signal IC component qualification or supplier management.
  • Strong experience with semiconductor component qualification, supplier development, supplier technical management, and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Hands-on knowledge of analog and mixed-signal semiconductor technologies.
  • Strong understanding of power delivery architectures including PMICs, voltage regulators, load switches, and related power management components.
  • Experience supporting high-speed interface technologies including PCIe, NVMe, retimers, redrivers, level shifters, and signal integrity considerations.
  • Experience coordinating New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, supplier qualifications, and engineering change activities.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor reliability methodologies including HTOL, HAST/uHAST, Temperature Cycling, ESD, Latch-up testing, and JEDEC qualification standards.
  • Experience performing supplier quality investigations, root cause analysis (8D), corrective action management, and supplier re-qualification.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor packaging, assembly, final test processes, and OSAT manufacturing operations.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, risk assessment, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, technical presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within a distributed remote environment while effectively supporting global engineering organizations.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Direct experience supporting PMICs, voltage regulators, load switches, level shifters, PCIe retimers, redrivers, or other Power and Interface IC technologies.
  • Experience supporting enterprise storage, SSD, server, networking, or data-center hardware products.
  • Established working relationships with leading semiconductor suppliers and OSAT partners across the United States, Taiwan, Korea, or Japan.
