Position overview:
- A public sector health organization is seeking a Senior Rhapsody Integrations Developer to support mission‑critical public health, laboratory, and disease surveillance systems. This role will support an Advanced Molecular Detection (AMD) / Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) initiative and related data modernization efforts.
- The Senior Rhapsody Integrations Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting complex system integrations using the Rhapsody Integration Engine. The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, highly technical, and capable of working independently while leading technical efforts, collaborating with stakeholders, and supporting strategic public health initiatives.
- This role may serve as the technical lead for the project, managing development work, coordinating communications, and ensuring successful delivery of integration solutions.
- 5+ years of experience with Rhapsody Integration Engine version 6 or higher
- 5+ years of experience with Symphonia Mapping Language (SML)
- 5+ years of experience with HL7 messaging (v2.3.1–v2.5.1), including ORU and ORM message types
- 2+ years of experience with XML, XSD, and XPath
- 3+ years of experience creating advanced SQL queries, including complex joins
- 5+ years of experience with JavaScript (ECMA / E4X)
- 2+ years of experience with SOAP web services
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent related work experience
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and respond to high‑priority tasks
- Experience with Windows Server administration
- Experience supporting public health, disease surveillance systems, or laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- Familiarity with Excel, VBA macros, and workflow automation tools (Automate / Flow)
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards such as LOINC and SNOMED
- Experience using DevOps tools and Jira
- Experience working with REDCap
- Experience with FASTQ files and demultiplexing
- Rhapsody certification (specific certification should be listed on the résumé)
- Prior public sector or government project experience
- Design, develop, configure, and maintain integration routes within the Rhapsody environment
- Transform and parse complex data formats including HL7, XML, CSV, SOAP, and other structured formats using Symphonia and JavaScript
- Develop process automation and ETL solutions supporting laboratory and disease surveillance workflows
- Create, validate, and optimize advanced SQL queries for data extraction and transformation
- Utilize SOAP‑based web services to exchange data with internal and external systems
- Format data for ingestion into testing, laboratory, disease surveillance, and CDC reporting systems
- Monitor integration routes and production processes to ensure reliable data flow, accuracy, and performance
- Debug, troubleshoot, optimize, and reprocess integration errors and failures
- Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and notification practices
- Support Rhapsody upgrades, new environment configurations, and ongoing maintenance activities
- Ensure high system availability and business continuity for critical integrations
- Participate in requirements gathering, gap analysis, solution design, and technical documentation
- Provide technical advice, time and effort estimates, and regular project status reporting
- Lead or support system testing, validation, user acceptance testing, deployment, and post‑implementation support
- Review, refactor, and rewrite existing integration solutions to align with best practices and coding standards
- Perform and participate in code reviews for internally developed and vendor‑provided solutions
- Mentor team members on advanced integration techniques and Rhapsody best practices
- Coordinate with internal IT leadership, integration teams, program staff, and external vendors
- Support onboarding of providers and partners for services such as electronic lab reporting (ELR), electronic test orders and results (ETOR), electronic case reporting (eCR), and inter‑partner data sharing
- This role supports systems critical to public health, laboratory operations, and disease surveillance
- Responsibilities may include supporting national data modernization initiatives
- All integration solutions must comply with organizational security requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices
