Role Summary

The Senior / Lead PTMS Engineer is responsible for the architecture, analysis, optimization, and integration of aero engine power and thermal management systems. This role serves as a technical focal for engine-level PTMS, leading system trade studies, requirements definition, and verification activities while working closely with OEM and airframers, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), CDS Accessories, and industrial partners to deliver compliant, robust, and producible PTMS solutions.

Key Responsibilities

System Modeling, Analysis & Optimization
  • Develop and maintain engine PTMS system models capturing electrical, thermal, pneumatic, and mechanical domains.
  • Define and manage heat transfer allocations for Functional sizing, Duty cycle definition
  • Utilize PTMS Control design and optimization environments to support collaborative system development.
  • Utilize PTMS-PSA engine system trade study environments to assess performance, operability, and integration impacts.
  • Lead integration and performance assessment of engine heat management subsystems, including ACCA / ICCA / buffer architectures, Customer, start, inlet, and fan bleeds, Anti-ice systems, Engine and aircraft heat exchangers
  • Manage engine-to-airframe PTMS integration, ensuring compliance with Aircraft power requirements and Heat rejection requirements
  • Ensure solutions meet packaging, weight, maintainability, and physical integration constraints through collaborative design with airframer and internal IPTs.
  • Share responsibility with CDS Accessories for fuel system integration, specifically for engine-control-related fuel system aspects.

Requirements, Verification & Validation
  • Support engine PTMS functional and physical requirements, including allocation, traceability, and change management.
  • Manage requirement verification and validation (V&V) activities in coordination with airframers and internal certification teams.
  • Support compliance and certification through discipline reviews, documentation, and design reviews.
  • Mentor engineers and support PTMS capability and process development within the organization.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • 8-12+ years of experience in aero engine systems, PTMS, ECS, or aircraft systems integration.
  • Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid systems, and electrical power systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading system architecture, trade studies, and cross-IPT technical decisions.
  • Experience working directly with airframers and engine-airframe interface requirements.
  • due to nature of work.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Engine OEM systems engineering processes, gated reviews, and certification practices.
  • Experience with model-based system design and control-oriented PTMS tools.
  • Proven ability to operate as a technical authority within a complex, matrixed organization.
