SRE / DevOps Engineer
Location: Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)
Experience Level: 2–3 years
About the Role
This role joins an infrastructure-focused engineering team responsible for building and scaling a reliable technical foundation for fast-moving development teams. Rather than simply maintaining systems, you’ll help shape an environment that enables rapid delivery, strong reliability, and smooth operational performance.
You’ll collaborate closely with product engineering on deployment approaches, observability practices, performance tuning, and infrastructure design. This position offers meaningful ownership over the technical choices that influence how the platform evolves and supports modern, AI-enhanced development workflows.
What You’ll Do
- Design and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure) with reliability and scalability as core principles
- Build and support Infrastructure-as-Code environments using Terraform
- Develop and improve observability systems—monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing
- Optimize Postgres database performance, including schema design, query tuning, and capacity planning
- Manage container environments using Kubernetes or AWS ECS, along with CI/CD deployment pipelines
- Partner with engineering teams on reliability best practices, deployment patterns, and incident response
- Help foster a culture where reliability and development speed work together, not against each other
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 2–3 years of hands-on SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering experience in production environments
- Strong knowledge of a major cloud provider (AWS or Azure)
- Experience working with Infrastructure-as-Code, preferably Terraform
- Working familiarity with container orchestration tools (Kubernetes or AWS ECS)
- Comfort with databases, including SQL writing, schema design, performance tuning, and query optimization
- Programming experience with at least one language (Python, Go, or TypeScript preferred, but depth matters more than specific languages)
Nice to Have
- Experience with observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Datadog, etc.)
- Background in optimizing systems for cost, latency, or resource utilization
- Contributions to open-source SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure tooling
- Experience supporting fast iteration cycles and high deployment velocity
Why This Role Is Compelling
You’ll have the opportunity to meaningfully influence technical direction, shaping how infrastructure, reliability, and developer workflows evolve. You’ll work with a focused, collaborative team and contribute to thoughtful, sustainable engineering practices while helping enable a modern, AI-supported development environment.
