Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Operations Engineer III to support vendor, contractor, and internal team activities involved in the retro-commissioning of operational data centers. This role provides oversight and technical leadership across a wide range of critical infrastructure systems, including:
- Medium & Low Voltage Power Systems
- Generators
- UPS Systems
- HVAC Systems (Air Handlers, Exhaust Fans, VFDs)
- Chilled Water Systems
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)
- Testing & Balancing
- Pumps & Hydronic Systems
Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Data Center Operations Engineer III, you will oversee testing and validation of electrical and mechanical infrastructure in active operational data centers.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing as-built documentation, equipment submittals, and commissioning plans.
- Managing third-party commissioning vendors and monitoring onsite functional and integrated systems testing.
- Troubleshooting issues using strong technical depth and a proactive approach to maintain schedule and minimize operational impact.
- Providing multi-discipline input on project scheduling, test scripts, design reviews, and commissioning planning.
- Auditing vendor activities for compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Preparing regular progress reports and metrics for the Regional Commissioning Manager.
- Leading multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring milestones are met while maintaining budget compliance.
- Sharing lessons learned and contributing to ongoing program improvements.
Basic Qualifications- 5+ years experience in engineering, installation, startup, or commissioning of electrical/mechanical systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or 5+ years of relevant hands-on discipline experience.
- Strong technical competency in at least one of the following: mechanical, electrical, or controls systems-along with the ability to learn and support the others.
- Ability to interpret design documents (drawings, specifications, vendor submittals, sequences of operation) and provide feedback aligned with organizational design standards.
- Experience reviewing and developing commissioning documentation, including test plans and reports.
Preferred Qualifications- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); SharePoint or similar platforms preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; able to remain effective in high-pressure environments.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems for critical infrastructure environments.
- Ability to read and revise construction documents, design drawings, control diagrams, and specifications.
- Experience creating and executing test procedures based on design intent and equipment submittals.
Additional Skills & Experience- Experience in telecommunications construction and enterprise-scale data center environments.
- Expert-level experience in mission-critical facility operations and commissioning.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
