We are looking for you to join our team as an Engineering Manager based out of San Diego, CA. As an Engineering Manager at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Through the use of Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices we continue to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter. What You'll Get to Do:

The Functional manager will lead a team of approximately 10-15 engineers working within the Mission Systems San Diego. The successful candidate will lead direct report employees based on organizational goals, program activity, and company policies. Specific responsibilities include coordinating with programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance reviews to employees, evaluating/recommending employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and coordinating with Human Resources on potential adjustments, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees and counseling employees on their performance as necessary as well as working to refine the hardware development process and tools utilized for program excellence and design assurance. Program Execution and Engineering Excellence are our driving forces.

The qualified candidate shall also be a technical performer, working approximately 80% directly on programs. Experience with mentoring and people management is highly desirable.

The Manager will support and be accountable for goals including:

Cultivate an inclusive and engaging workplace. Ensure employees' work life balance is appropriate.
Workforce: maintain staff adequate to execute to program plans, as well as for strategic growth. Plan assignments and fill program needs to ensure success, but which also offer growth to the individuals performing the work.
Performance management: on an ongoing basis engage with staff to identify growth opportunities, deficiencies, appropriate training, etc. Execute to the Enterprise review cycle. Manage compensation and career progression
Create and maintain forward-looking processes which align to strategic goals.
Candidate must have excellent written, communication, and emotional intelligence skills, and be able to work independently and within groups.
Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters.
The candidate must have a full understanding of his/her specific discipline.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications:

BS + 5 years of exp in related STEM field; MS + 3 years of exp.
Background in mechanical or aerospace engineering
Candidate must have excellent written, communication, and emotional intelligence skills, and be able to work independently and within groups.
Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters.
Previous experience as a functional manager or technical team leader.
Familiarity with other Engineering disciplines including manufacturing, test, systems, quality, and electrical.
Knowledge of engineering process, defense acquisition process, and proficiency in process development and implementation.
Current duties within the E&S purview.
Must have an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with EVMS Reporting and CAM responsibilities.
Familiarity with other organizational functions such as supply chain, procurement, logistics, and mission assurance.
Experience in development of one or more of the following: airborne and ground military RF and digital communications products, test hardware products, infrastructure products.
Familiarity with other organizational functions such as supply chain, procurement, logistics, configuration management and mission assurance.
Current or previous U.S. Government: Top Secret, Secret, SCI, SAP clearances.
Primary Level Salary Range: $133,000.00 - $199,600.00
