Model Based Software Developer/Software Modeling Engineer

Location: Peoria, IL (Onsite)

Engagement Type: Contract

Position Summary

We are hiring multiple Model-Based Software Engineers to support a major modernization initiative focused on refactoring and modularizing legacy software models. This role emphasizes hands-on MATLAB/Simulink development, architecture restructuring, and validation through simulation and testing frameworks. The work is software-centric and not focused on traditional controls engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Refactor and modularize large-scale legacy MATLAB/Simulink models into clean, reusable components
• Support system-level architecture redesign by restructuring model hierarchies and dependencies
• Rebuild and standardize shared model libraries to align with updated platform standards
• Develop, update, and execute MIL-based simulations and validation strategies
• Contribute to SIL/HIL-related activities, including simulation updates and environment tuning
• Define test strategies and verification methods for newly modularized models
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams using a Megamodel-driven framework to guide decomposition and integration
• Standardize signal interfaces and I/O definitions across model components
• Integrate models into AUTOSAR-compatible wrappers where applicable
• Create and maintain unit tests and simulation assets supporting early program phases

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with MATLAB and Simulink for model-based software development
• Proven background in modifying, restructuring, or modernizing model-based architectures
• Solid understanding of model-based verification techniques (MIL/SIL/HIL)
• Ability to analyze complex model dependencies and propose scalable modular solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with AUTOSAR or model-based AUTOSAR workflows
• Exposure to dSPACE environments or simulation-driven development
• Background in building or maintaining standardized model libraries
• Automotive, embedded systems, or large-platform program experience

• Team is open to a mix of experience levels to support parallel workstreams
• Role is focused exclusively on MATLAB/Simulink modeling, restructuring, and testing
• No heavy embedded C/C++ development required
