What you'll doQuality Engineers at Viasat play a significant role in contributing to the business team, offering recommendations derived from their analyses, and leading cross-functional teams to execute process and product improvement efforts. This experience will require a combination of skills from manufacturing processes, data analytics, and project management.
The day-to-dayWhat's the day-to-day like for this candidate?
- Review Viasat and Supplier product yield and field reliability data for trends.
- Scripting with Python to investigate trends
- Provide analysis and recommendations to the business team, using data to tell compelling stories and influence action.
- Drive root cause investigations and process improvement efforts, utilizing tools such as Pareto Analysis, Histograms, Cause & Effect Diagrams, and Cpk.
- Engage with teams to build relationships, focusing on solving problems to enhance quality, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency.
What you'll need- 5+ years' as a Quality Engineer with experience in aerospace, and/or defense environment, including Design, Manufacturing, and implementation of Quality Management Systems
- Experience working with and managing a contract manufacturer
- Experience working in an AS9100 / ISO 9001 environment
- Experience in interpreting contract quality requirements covering quality requirements and quality planning
- Understanding of box-build, SMT, fabrication commodities
- Practical experience collaborating within a cross-functional group dedicated to supplier quality and product quality assurance for diverse products
- Strong analytical experience using Python, communication, and interaction skills
- Prior experience in using Quality Tools: 8D, 5-Why, DFMEA/PFMEA
- Hands-on experience working in a multi-functional team covering supplier quality, product quality assurance across a wide range of products
- Strong analytical skills. Excellent written communication skills and ability to communicate across all level and functions

Salary range$84,500.00 - $133,000.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $105,000.00- $157,000.00/ annually
