Applications Administrator – Linux

Tier 5 (Top Secret) Clearance Required

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Linux Applications Administrator to support a federal government program requiring a Tier 5 (T5) background investigation for Top Secret clearance eligibility.

This role is responsible for administering, maintaining, and supporting Linux-based operating systems and mission-critical applications in a secure enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Linux system administration, application deployment, troubleshooting, and performance tuning within enterprise or government environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Linux server environments supporting enterprise applications

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based applications and services

• Troubleshoot application performance issues, system errors, and service outages

• Manage system resources, performance monitoring, and optimization

• Deploy, configure, and patch Linux operating systems and application stacks

• Support application environments running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Ubuntu

• Maintain user access controls, permissions, and system security settings

• Work closely with developers, database administrators, and infrastructure teams to support application operations

• Maintain system documentation, configuration standards, and operational procedures

• Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes

• Ensure compliance with federal security and configuration standards

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  OR relevant Linux certification such as:

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience administering Linux environments and supporting Linux-based applications

• Experience with:

  • Linux system administration

  • Application deployment and troubleshooting

  • Linux command-line tools and system management

  • File systems, user permissions, and system security

• Experience working in enterprise IT environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting federal government or defense programs

• Knowledge of scripting and automation (Bash, Python, or Shell scripting)

• Experience with:

  • Web servers (Apache, Nginx)

  • Application servers

  • Container platforms (Docker or Kubernetes)

• Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS or Azure

• Knowledge of NIST, RMF, or federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks

Security Clearance Requirement

• U.S. Citizenship required

• Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Tier 5 (T5) background investigation

• Tier 5 investigation supports Top Secret clearance eligibility

• Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance preferred
