Description SAIC is seeking a highly motivated Senior Cloud Systems Administrator to join our expanding, multi-disciplined team of professionals at our Identity and Data Sciences Laboratory (IDSL). The selected individual will be instrumental in the administration, management, and configuration control of the IDSL's cloud-based systems for large scale data analytics processing. These in-house developed, high availability environments are leveraged by the IDSL team in the evaluation of emerging hardware and software technologies designed to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction of travel and trade processes used by our customers.
This is a hybrid position based in Upper Marlboro, MD - 3 Days in Office / 2 Days Remote. Job Duties
Work in tandem with the IDSL Cloud Security Administrator, Corporate Cyber Team, and customer security representatives, to maintain cloud system configurations, security strategies, policies, and procedures in support of Approval to Operate (ATO) certifications and the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA) triad.
Collaborate closely with our software development team to build, deploy, and manage instances of FedRamp compliant cloud-based infrastructure and services in AWS GovCloud environments.
Configure and maintain Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) configurations to ensure network isolation, security, and performance.
Administer multi-factor authentication system level access controls and user bases.
Manage user identities and role-based access control in AWS through IAM (Identity and Access Management) policies.
Develop and maintain role-based access control strategies to enforce the principle of least privilege (PoLP) and ensure only authorized personnel have access to resources.
Coordinate, schedule and perform software installations and security updates for cloud-based systems, layered software packages, and databases.
Test, evaluate, and recommend next generation Windows and Linux based applications and virtualized services for suitability of deployment on secured cloud systems.
Develop, document, implement, and promulgate standard operating procedures and schedules.
Monitor and track cost and usage data to inform program management budgets and goals
Troubleshoot AWS infrastructure and network related errors to provide solutions for and fixes.
Deploy cloud-based applications using bash scripts, AWS CloudFormation and AWS CodePipeline
Understand and communicate technical cloud related functions for future implementation.
Suggest security improvements when new applications are introduced for development
Use Linux OS for application run-time environments
Qualifications Required:
BS and 5 years of related experience
Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust requiring U.S. Citizenship.
Has prior experience with government ATO processes, procedures, and administrative support requirements including multi-factor authentication.
Fully understands and complies with FedRamp and FISMA requirements and procedures for cloud computing.
Possesses meticulous organizational skills with experience in administrative support documentation, log file analysis, system audits, and other record keeping practices.
Is willing to iterate and adapt system support requirements to changing requirements and conditions.
Possesses strong writing skills and can clearly articulate and document technical plans, findings, and recommendations.
Has experience deploying, managing and troubleshooting multi-account cloud-based environments.
Has experience with structured database systems such as Postgress, mysql, and DynamoDB running in an AWS environment
Understands AWS networking infrastructure on a technical basis and can communicate secure and functional AWS application infrastructure.
Desired:
AWS, Azure, and/S certification.
Knowledge of container management platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker running in AWS using serverless systems such as AWS Fargate, Lambda, and AWS ECS.
Has knowledge using Linux distributions such as CentOS and Ubuntu and application runtime environments
Hands-on experience administering and maintaining hybrid cloud architectures, multiple cloud providers, and backup/disaster recovery methods and best practices.
Demonstrated experience making administrative decisions based on information assurance standards, scalability, extensibility, supportability, and sustainability.
Hands-on coding skills in one or more programming languages such as Python, Perl, R, Ruby, Java, and .NET.
Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
