Summary

Overview

Within SSOE's Tool Install division, we specialize in high-tech Tool Installation design, offering top-tier design and engineering services to a diverse array of clients and markets. Our team is composed of highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals who excel across various disciplines. We pride ourselves on our cross-disciplinary approach, which allows us to understand and address our clients' needs more comprehensively than traditional, siloed methods.

The Electrical Engineer - Pre-Assignment owns the integrity of the electrical pre-assignment database that drives semiconductor process tool hookup design. In this role you are accountable for ensuring every tool's electrical points of connection (POCs) are correctly assigned, capacity-validated, physically available in the field, and aligned with construction scope and schedule. You will work across equipment design, electrical system owners, project discipline engineers, A/E partners, and the client to keep pre-assignment data accurate as layouts evolve, tool scope changes, and new supplier data arrives.

AI and Innovation

At SSOE, we don't just talk about the future, we build it. As a leader in industry AI adoption, we empower our team to work smarter by providing responsible access to the industry leading AI Large Language Models, vibe-coding platforms, and securely integrating advanced tools into every role. From day one, you'll receive the training and support needed to leverage AI as a core tool for enhancing productivity, sparking creativity, and streamlining complex workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the completeness and accuracy of the electrical pre-assignment database in support of equipment (tool) design, including POC tags, panel/breaker assignments, load data, and tool-connection-to-facility-POC mapping.
  • Evaluate POC and capacity impacts to the pre-assignment database resulting from layout revisions, tool scope changes, new supplier data, and facilities equipment installations; incorporate changes and communicate downstream effects.
  • Coordinate electrical POC and capacity requirements against construction scope and schedule; identify gaps, conflicts, and long-lead risks and escalate to the appropriate team for resolution.
  • Interface daily with electrical system owners, project discipline engineers, A/E firms, and/or the client to resolve open issues and drive timely pre-assignment database updates.
  • Execute regular field walks to validate the physical availability of assigned POCs; identify anomalies, propose resolutions, and promptly escalate for closure.
  • Attend weekly Electrical Working Group (EWG) meetings, presenting pre-assignment status, open issues, and capacity constraints.
  • Identify and communicate improvement proposals for the electrical pre-assignment process, data quality controls, and cross-discipline project coordination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline (or equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience).
  • Experience with electrical power distribution for industrial or high-tech facilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, panel schedules, equipment layouts, and tool utility/connection specifications from suppliers.
  • Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD (or CAD viewer), Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and can utilize a PDF markup and collaboration tool such as Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
  • Demonstrated experience with engineering data management: tracking large sets of connection and capacity records, controlling revisions, and maintaining traceability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholder groups and escalate issues clearly and constructively.
  • Willingness and ability to perform routine field walks in an active construction and/or cleanroom environment, including use of required PPE.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) as it relates to tool pre-assignment activities (e.g., circuit sizing, system capacity, equipment/component ratings, etc.).
  • Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000/year depending on location, education, depth of relevant experience, and any specialized licensure/certifications. Opportunity for ample rewards, leadership incentive components, and generous bonus opportunities.
  • Benefits: Includes comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, 401K retirement savings plan (with company matching), opportunities for professional development and training (including support for relevant licensure & certifications), and generous PTO & paid holidays.
