Our Government client located in New York, NY is seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Architect to design, develop, and govern enterprise cloud architectures, with a primary focus on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

This senior-level role is responsible for defining OCI architecture standards, cloud governance frameworks, hybrid and multi-cloud solutions, infrastructure modernization strategies, and cloud automation capabilities.

The selected candidate will partner with business stakeholders, infrastructure teams, and engineering groups to translate complex requirements into secure, scalable, highly available, and cost-effective cloud architectures.

The ideal candidate has deep hands-on OCI architecture experience, strong knowledge of on-premises infrastructure, and demonstrated experience with AI technologies available on cloud platforms. Experience with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud is beneficial for broader multi-cloud initiatives.

The architect will also support the organization's expansion of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities and help establish consistent cloud architecture and governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architecture

• Design and develop enterprise cloud architectures primarily using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

• Establish OCI architecture standards, reference architectures, governance models, frameworks, and technical best practices.

• Architect secure, scalable, highly available OCI environments supporting enterprise applications, databases, and infrastructure workloads.

• Evaluate OCI services and recommend appropriate cloud architecture solutions based on business and technical requirements.

• Develop cloud infrastructure roadmaps and assess existing architecture for modernization and optimization opportunities.

• Define architecture approaches for OCI compute, networking, storage, databases, and related infrastructure services.

• Provide architectural guidance to engineering teams throughout implementation, migration, and operational support.

Hybrid & Multi-Cloud Architecture

• Design and implement hybrid cloud architectures integrating on-premises infrastructure with OCI and other cloud environments.

• Develop architecture patterns supporting enterprise cloud migration, workload integration, and infrastructure modernization.

• Support multi-cloud architecture initiatives involving AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).

• Evaluate infrastructure dependencies, connectivity requirements, and integration considerations across cloud and on-premises environments.

• Design cloud networking solutions involving network segmentation, VLANs, connectivity, and secure communication.

• Define high-availability and disaster recovery architectures supporting critical enterprise workloads.

AI & Cloud Platform Architecture

• Evaluate and incorporate AI technologies and capabilities available across OCI and other cloud platforms.

• Develop architecture approaches for supporting AI-enabled applications and infrastructure workloads.

• Demonstrate practical knowledge of AI technologies and their use within enterprise cloud environments.

• Assess platform capabilities and recommend appropriate architectural solutions for AI-related requirements.

• Collaborate with technical teams to evaluate the infrastructure, security, and integration requirements of AI solutions.

Oracle Database & Infrastructure Architecture

• Design cloud architectures supporting enterprise Oracle database platforms and services.

• Provide architectural guidance involving Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, GoldenGate, RMAN, and Oracle database licensing.

• Evaluate and design solutions involving Oracle Exadata, Exadata Cloud@Customer (ExaCC), Exadata Database Service (ExaDB-D), Exascale, Database as a Service (DBaaS), and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).

• Define database high-availability, disaster recovery, backup, and recovery architecture requirements.

• Support infrastructure assessments, migration planning, and modernization of Oracle database environments.

• Work with database administrators and infrastructure teams to ensure architecture designs align with operational requirements.

Cloud Networking, Security & Governance

• Design cloud networking architectures supporting secure connectivity between OCI, on-premises systems, and other cloud platforms.

• Define network segmentation, VLAN configurations, and infrastructure connectivity requirements.

• Incorporate cloud security controls and enterprise security best practices into architecture designs.

• Establish governance models supporting cloud infrastructure standardization, operational consistency, and risk management.

• Develop architecture recommendations addressing infrastructure security, scalability, reliability, and compliance.

• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to review and strengthen cloud architecture security controls.

Infrastructure Automation & DevOps

• Support the expansion of enterprise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities.

• Develop and recommend infrastructure automation approaches using Terraform, Ansible, APIs, and CLI-based tools.

• Define repeatable infrastructure provisioning and configuration standards.

• Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to improve cloud deployment processes and automation practices.

• Promote consistent architecture patterns supporting efficient infrastructure delivery and maintenance.

• Evaluate opportunities to automate infrastructure configuration, monitoring, and operational activities.

High Availability, Disaster Recovery & Cloud Operations

• Design architectures supporting high availability, business continuity, and disaster recovery.

• Define infrastructure requirements for server configuration, patching, backups, monitoring, and alerting.

• Incorporate operational reliability and performance considerations into cloud architecture designs.

• Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, including monitoring, observability, service-level agreements (SLAs), service-level objectives (SLOs), and service-level indicators (SLIs).

• Partner with infrastructure and operations teams to address cloud reliability and performance requirements.

• Recommend improvements to infrastructure resiliency and operational efficiency.

Cloud FinOps & Cost Optimization

• Incorporate Cloud FinOps principles into enterprise cloud architecture decisions.

• Evaluate cloud resource utilization, infrastructure sizing, and cost implications of proposed solutions.

• Recommend architecture improvements that balance performance, reliability, scalability, and cost.

• Support cloud cost governance and infrastructure optimization initiatives.

• Consider Oracle database licensing implications when evaluating architecture and deployment options.

Architecture Documentation & Technical Leadership

• Develop architecture diagrams, technical design documents, reference architectures, and implementation roadmaps.

• Utilize tools such as Microsoft Visio or Abacus to document enterprise cloud infrastructure and architecture designs.

• Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical architecture solutions.

• Present architectural recommendations, technical alternatives, and design decisions to business and technology leadership.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to infrastructure and engineering teams.

• Help strengthen engineering capabilities by establishing architecture standards and sharing cloud platform expertise.

• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, database, DevOps, and cybersecurity teams to support enterprise cloud initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) experience, with strong expertise designing and architecting enterprise OCI environments.

• Demonstrated proficiency in OCI architecture, cloud services, governance, standards, and best practices.

• 1–2 years of experience with AI technologies, including demonstrated practical application of AI capabilities available on cloud platforms.

• 4–6 years of hybrid infrastructure experience, including integration of on-premises environments with cloud platforms.

• 4–6 years of cloud networking experience, including infrastructure connectivity, network configuration, and related architecture considerations.

• 4–6 years of cloud DevOps and automation experience, including infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.

• 2–3 years of cloud security experience.

• Strong understanding of enterprise cloud architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, and infrastructure modernization.

• Experience with cloud server configuration, patching, network/VLAN configuration, backups, monitoring, and alerting.

• Familiarity with Oracle database technologies and enterprise database architecture.

• Experience developing architecture standards, governance frameworks, technical documentation, and cloud architecture roadmaps.

• Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and engineering teams to translate requirements into practical architecture solutions.

• Strong technical leadership, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work 3 days onsite and 2 days remotely, as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Associate or Architect Professional certification.

• Experience with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform, ideally 1–2 years with each applicable platform.

• Experience with Cloud FinOps, including 1–2 years of cost optimization or cloud financial governance.

• Experience producing architecture documentation using Visio or Abacus, ideally 2–3 years.

• Experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, GoldenGate, RMAN, and database licensing.

• Experience with Oracle Exadata, ExaCC, ExaDB-D, Exascale, DBaaS, and OEM.

• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible.

• Experience with API/CLI automation.

• Familiarity with Linux administration and enterprise networking.

• Experience implementing SRE practices, observability, and service reliability metrics.

• Experience guiding infrastructure engineering teams through cloud modernization initiatives.
