Sr Controls & Automation Engineer

Location: Houston TX Onsite

Duration: Full time/Direct Hire

Role Summary
Hands-on PLC/HMI developer for drilling automation systems. This is a builder role - writing and deploying code, not managing or maintaining. The candidate will work on drilling rig control systems (Top Drives, Drawworks, Mud Pumps, etc.) for one of the largest drilling contractors in North America.

Must-Haves

Hands-on PLC programming - Siemens TIA Portal primary; Rockwell RSLogix/Studio 5000 acceptable
HMI development - building and deploying from scratch, not just modifying existing screens
Drilling rig equipment experience - Top Drives, Drawworks, Mud Pumps, VFDs
Field commissioning on actual rigs or heavy industrial equipment
Industrial comms protocols - EtherNet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, OPC UA

Nice-to-Haves

NOV, Canrig, or other OEM drilling controls product experience
NOV Amphion platform familiarity
Offshore rig experience
