Job Details

The Tableau Report Developer must have minimum of three (3) years experience performing business intelligence report development including development and maintenance of reports for a large public and/or private organization.
The Tableau Report Developer must have a minimum of two (2) years experience developing reports in Tableau.
The Tableau Report Developer must have experience on at least two agile software projects.
The Tableau Report Developer must have knowledge of SQL, TSQL and/or PL/SQL used in an Oracle database environment.
Hold a Bachelor s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Communications, or related field, or possess equivalent experience.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  1. Tableau maintenance
    Support the current Tableau extracts, reports and dashboards functionality, resolving defects and implementing enhancements.
    a. Manage Tableau related defects or enhancements, tracking details and status using the Caltrans standard Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and ALM-Octane tools as the source for all requirements information
    b. Analyze the defect or request and the related software to thoroughly understand the issue and document the changes needed, meeting with the business owners as required to ensure alignment with their needs
    c. Design and develop code changes to meet the business need, which may involve Oracle extract changes, Tableau prep changes, Tableau report or dashboard changes
    d. Thoroughly test all changes in a non-production environment and document the results, maintaining and enhancing the repository of manual and automated test scripts as needed, using the Caltrans standard ALM suite
    e. Develop and execute automated performance tests to identify issues and develop solutions to solve performance bottlenecks
    f. Support Caltrans in system and user acceptance testing of changes
    g. Deploy changes to production and validate Updated Production Reporting Functionality, Updated ALM Repository, Updated Caltrans Reporting documentation
  2. New Product Implementation
    Install new business intelligence, reporting and data management products to enhance Caltrans analytics capabilities and that work within the Caltrans Business Intelligence and reporting environment. This work will include the following tasks:
    a. Product demonstrations
    b. Prototypes
    c. Installation
    d. Documentation of configurations
    (a) Demonstrations and Prototypes
    (b) Installed new products/software
    (c) Documentation of configuration changes. Code developed within Caltrans instances will follow Caltrans coding standards. Solutions developed must pass Caltrans QA/QC and User Acceptance tests, and maintainable
    (d) All source code and documentation must be stored in the Caltrans repository for Caltrans use.
Discovery Sessions
Conduct discovery sessions/analysis meetings with the business to understand requirements and document their needs related to new reporting or analytics requirements. Offer solutions to new reporting requests and issues using best practices in data/analytics. Document requirements using Caltrans approved templates. Conduct discovery sessions with the business on specific requests and develop prototypes for potential products for Caltrans review. Document the requirements in user stories with acceptance criteria that clearly establishes the business user s need and the expected results. This documentation will be used by Caltrans QC/QA to establish test plan scripts and training documentation. This work will follow Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) best practices. Data Management
The Contractor will be assisting Caltrans in supporting users in understanding data sources and assisting in data needs. This work will include data management and data administration activities including evaluating business requirements and making recommendations on the appropriate tool to use and processes to follow. Primary support will be provided in the design, development, and support of data warehouses, data lakes and data marts. The Contractor will document and facilitate data repository recommendations and development, which may include data warehouse, data lake, and/or data mart work. Recommendations and development will follow Caltrans standards and must be reviewed and approved by the Caltrans Business Owner or Data Architect. Documentation is clear, concise and complete
