Summary

ROLE_DESCRIPTION
8+ years of relevant experience supporting Actuarial, Finance, Insurance, or other complex financial systems, with demonstrated success translating business needs into technology solutions, preferred.
Strong knowledge of annuity products, including Fixed Annuities (FA), Fixed Indexed Annuities (FIA), reinsurance, liability data, and PGA-related business processes.
Advanced SQL and data analysis experience with the ability to validate complex business rules, interpret financial and actuarial data, and support cloud-based data modernization initiatives, preferably within AWS.
Experience working in Agile environments utilizing JIRA, Confluence, and modern business analysis practices, along with familiarity using AI-enabled tools to improve analysis, documentation, and delivery outcomes.
Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to operate independently, influence cross-functional teams, mentor others, and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Finance, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

ESSENTIAL_SKILLS
Partner with Actuarial, Finance, Reinsurance, and Technology stakeholders to analyze business processes, facilitate requirements workshops, and translate complex business needs into scalable technology solutions supporting actuarial and financial operations.
Perform hands-on data analysis using SQL and other analytical tools to validate business rules, reconcile actuarial and financial data, and support downstream reporting, modeling, and operational decision-making.
Drive modernization initiatives by collaborating with engineering teams to improve actuarial data platforms, AWS-based data solutions, system integrations, and overall data quality and accessibility.
Support Agile delivery by creating and managing user stories, acceptance criteria, documentation, testing, and production support activities while contributing to continuous improvement across the software delivery lifecycle.
Mentor and support Business Systems Analysts by sharing best practices, improving documentation standards, and helping elevate the quality and consistency of business analysis across the team.
Leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance business analysis, documentation, data interpretation, and productivity while promoting innovation, critical thinking, and continuous improvement across delivery teams.

Essential Skills: An Accounting BSA (Business Systems Analyst) plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between accounting teams and IT or system development teams. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that financial systems and processes are aligned with business needs and regulatory requirements. Heres a breakdown of their key responsibilities:
Requirements Gathering & Analysis
Partner with accounting, finance, and insurance operations to gather and document business requirements.
Analyze insurance-specific workflows: policy administration, premium billing, claims accounting, commissions, and reinsurance settlements (ceded/assumed).
Translate business requirements into system designs, process maps, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
System Implementation & Support
Support implementation, configuration, and testing of ERP and insurance platforms (e.g., SAP FI/CO, Oracle Cloud, Guidewire Billing/Policy/Claims, Duck Creek).
Design and validate system integrations between policy, billing, claims, and general ledger modules.
Create and execute test plans (unit, SIT, UAT); manage defect triage and remediation; support change control.
Insurance Process Management
Build and optimize accounting processes for premium recognition, unearned premium reserves (UPR), loss reserves, IBNR, claims payments, and commissions.
Implement system logic for reinsurance (treaty/facultative; proportional/non-proportional), bordereaux, and settlements.
Partner with actuarial and underwriting on loss ratio, combined ratio, and reserve-related data and reporting.
Data Integrity & Reporting
Ensure data completeness, accuracy, and reconciliation across sub-ledgers and the GL.
Develop dashboards and financial/insurance KPIs (e.g., written/earned premium trends, loss & LAE, expenses).
Support statutory and regulatory reporting (e.g., NAIC statements, Schedule P, Schedule F) and management reporting.
Compliance, Controls & Audit
Ensure adherence to GAAP, SAP (Statutory Accounting Principles), SOX, and state insurance regulations.
Design and maintain internal controls; support audit requests and walkthroughs for insurance-specific areas.
Document end-to-end process controls, segregation of duties, and data lineage across systems.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Act as a liaison between Accounting, IT, Insurance Operations, Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Billing, and Compliance.
Facilitate workshops, sprint planning, and stakeholder alignment; manage expectations and timelines.
Training & Documentation
Create and deliver training for end users on enhancements and new features.
Maintain process documentation, configuration guides, data dictionaries, and SOPs.
Preferred
Experience with data warehouses, ETL, and integration tools (e.g., Informatica, Azure Data Factory).
