Summary

Description:
Hybrid Local candidates strongly preferred - onsite 2-3 days per week. If non-local, they will be required to come usually ~2 months for 3 days. in St. Louis, MO

The organization seeks a Data Architect to design and build capabilities for a cloud-based big data analytics platform and a portal or transactional application. The role will contribute to an agile engineering team developing cloud-native data processing on AWS. The architect will define scalable data models, guide implementation across cloud databases, and drive data management standards. The position will collaborate with stakeholders and peer architects to ensure performance, security, and reliability.

Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $100.00 to $115.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Support multiple products and collaborate with stakeholders to meet planned commitments.
  • Translate requirements into large-scale, high-performance architectural data models and advise on cloud-native database implementations.
  • Document data management best practices, standards, and reference architecture. Publish data models for development and business analysis teams.
  • Investigate data quality and recommend improvements to system reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with peer data and application architects to reduce duplication and establish common standards. Lead impact analysis of DDL and DML changes.
  • Identify and escalate risks in current and planned implementations.
  • Implement data security and audit best practices and develop automation where feasible.
  • Partner with application engineering to select best-of-breed cloud data management technologies.
  • Conduct data architecture evaluations and report on deficiencies.
  • Participate in planning and effort estimation.
  • Contribute to an enterprise data strategy that treats data as an asset.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to CI/CD pipeline and release practices.

Experience Requirements:
  • 7+ years designing and delivering cross-functional data solutions, pipelines, and data delivery using advanced technologies.
  • Designing big data solutions with tools such as Hadoop and Spark.
  • Expertise with relational and analytical SQL databases, including PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, SageMaker, QuickSight, Config, Security Hub, and Inspector.
  • Proven application of data management best practices.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to be self-directed while supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.
  • Resourceful problem solving to mitigate issues and risks and avoid delays.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • AWS certification (preferred).
