• Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst with expertise in business resumption and application recovery documentation.
• The candidate will be responsible for interviewing business and technology stakeholders, understanding application recovery requirements, documenting existing business resumption processes, and completing application recovery templates for client approval.
• Candidate will help guide other team members in their application documentation tasks.
• As a secondary role, the candidate will also act as a hands-on Project Manager managing a MS Project Plan, status reporting, risk management, and client engagement. A project plan template from a previous successful project will be provided. Templates, tools, and instruction will be provided.
• Deliverables from this engagement will include the collection of template application recovery forms as well as gap analysis documentation and mitigation recommendations for identified process risks. Core deliverable for each application will be entered in Service Now and approved through the client.
• A key goal of the program is to provide a fully comprehensive plan for multiple applications that will allow an organization to continue business application services through a crisis, disaster, or operational disruption.
• Technology areas include both mainframe and client-server applications.
Key Responsibilities
• The Senior BA would work closely with business and technology teams to complete standard template documentation, interpreting interviews, and system documentation to create an accurate assessment. The candidate may use tools such as organizational lists, functional design documents, and system design documents, to identify relevant parties and business impacts.
• The Senior BA will guide other junior team members in their assignments.
• The Senior BA will act as the Project Manager managing a plan, milestones, risk management, lessons learned, and weekly status reporting.
Identify Key Threats and Impacts
Recovery Risk Assessment and Gap Analysis
• Review existing business resumption, disaster recovery, and application recovery documentation to identify gaps, inconsistencies, missing dependencies, and operational risks.
• Conduct interviews with business and technical stakeholders to gather recovery requirements, validate recovery procedures, and document critical business and application dependencies.
• Analyze recovery processes, assumptions, constraints, and recovery objectives to identify areas that may impact successful business resumption during a disruption.
• Assess the potential business impact of incomplete recovery procedures, unavailable resources, undocumented processes, or technology dependencies.
• Document identified risks, issues, dependencies, and recovery gaps and maintain appropriate risk and issue tracking documentation.
• Collaborate with business and technology teams to clarify recovery requirements and recommend practical mitigation approaches for identified gaps
• Escalate unresolved recovery risks, documentation deficiencies, and operational concerns to project leadership for review and resolution.
• Support the completion, review, approval, and maintenance of application recovery and business resumption documentation within ServiceNow.
• Assist in developing comprehensive application recovery documentation that supports continued business operations during operational disruptions, disasters, or other recovery events.
• Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with established business continuity and disaster recovery standards and practice
Work as a Team
• This team will chiefly be responsible for working with business teams, updating and maintaining recovery template documents, recognizing gaps, and making recommendations for workable recovery plans.
• The Senior BA must create a sense of teamwork within the project team members, DivIHN, and the client.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or business applications or related field is required. Education focused on GRC and/or business continuity is preferred.
• Proven experience with 5+ years in business analysis, including a solid understanding of business applications and their architecture
• Strong written and oral communication skills are required for business user interviews and team interaction.
• Demonstrated ability to work within high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, creative solutions, and continuous improvement is required.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and address challenges proactively while maintaining a focus on achieving business objectives are required.
• Experience in multiple application technologies is required.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify relationships between application processes, and recommend practical solutions are required.
• Multitasking Experience with multiple application data collection activities from an external client organization.
• Ability and experience managing work in a milestone-based MS Project plan and progress reporting with accuracy and clarity.
Although hands-on experience is preferred but not required, the successful candidate will have an operational understanding of:
o Distributed system architectures
o ServiceNow for documentation entry
o Web and host-based application architectures focused on Microsoft .NET, Java/Websphere as well as mainframe.
o Virtualization technology such as Vmware for connection to the client
o Basic cybersecurity concepts
o System interoperability and communication approaches
