Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) seeks a Materials & Processes (M&P) Manager to lead the 787 Fuselage and Paint Support Engineering team in North Charleston, SC.

In this role you will provide technical leadership and people management for an approximately 15-member engineering team spanning metals, composites, finishes, fasteners, and bushings/bearings. You will cultivate strong collaboration across the 787 engineering organization and create a psychologically safe environment where concerns can be raised freely.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary M&P engineering team; provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Collaborate with 787 Program Engineering leaders on work transition, top priorities, risk/issue/opportunity (RIO) management, and enablers.
  • Ensure the team meets commitments on design development and reviews, liaison support, qualifications, and supply chain activities.
  • Provide coaching, career development, and ongoing feedback to engineers.
  • Manage budgets, staffing, and health metrics for the business.
  • Inspire and empower the team through clear communication, collaboration, and care.
  • Foster a welcoming culture that seeks diverse perspectives, encourages speaking up, and practices active listening.
  • Model Boeing's Values and Behaviors and ensure an emotionally safe work environment where safety, quality, and schedule concerns are raised proactively.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership."
  • Ability to adapt to a changing statement of work

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 3+ years of experience in Materials & Process Engineering
  • Experience with team building, developing and motivating employees
  • Strong communication skills and working directly with executives or senior leaders
  • Experience working with Suppliers
