Description
Scope of Work & Key Responsibilities:
Architect, design, and develop scalable, enterprise-grade Semantic Models for self-service Power BI analytics.
Work extensively with Data Architects and ETL Team to ingest, transform, and prepare large and complex Semantic Models for analytics consumption.
Implement and manage data governance, access controls, and security policies.
Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand analytical requirements and translate them into effective BI and reporting solutions.
Ensure optimal Power BI report and dataset performance through efficient data modeling, DAX optimization, and query tuning best practices.
Monitor Workspaces and Fabric Capacities to ensure solutions are efficient and performant.
Troubleshoot Reports and Dashboards that don't render quickly.
Establish and enforce standards, guidelines, and best practices for Power BI development across the organization.
Lead initiatives around metadata management, data lineage, documentation, and data quality assurance.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to IT Staff and Business Users.
Support enterprise reporting strategies, ensuring scalability, reliability, and consistency across analytics platforms.

This role is
responsible for leading the design and development of enterprise-grade semantic
models to support self-service analytics in Power BI. The position partners
closely with Data Architects, ETL teams, and business stakeholders to deliver
scalable, secure, and high-performing BI solutions. The role plays a key part
in the organization's migration from Cognos to Power BI.

• Ensure optimal Power BI report and dataset performance through efficient data modeling, DAX optimization, and query tuning best practices.
• Monitor Power BI workspaces and Fabric capacities to ensure solutions are efficient and performant.
• Troubleshoot reports and dashboards that do not render quickly or meet performance expectations.
• Establish and enforce standards, guidelines, and best practices for Power BI development across the organization.
• Lead initiatives related to metadata management, data lineage, documentation, and data quality assurance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to IT staff and business users.
• Support enterprise reporting strategies with a focus on scalability, reliability, and consistency across analytics platforms.

Required Qualifications

• 5 or more years of experience in BI architecture and data engineering, with 10 or more years of overall IT experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, advanced data modeling techniques, and Fabric capacities.
• Expert-level proficiency in relational databases and SQL, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, and Redshift.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to business and technical audiences.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $75.00/hr.
