OverviewThe Training Engineer supports the development and delivery of asphalt pavement training programs, technology transfer activities, and research implementation efforts. This position is intended for an early-career engineer with strong communication skills and an interest in becoming a national leader in asphalt pavement technology and education.
AU Formal Title: NCAT Engineer
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver classroom, virtual, and field-based training programs.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of technical presentations, manuals, and student exercises.
- Travel nationally to support training and outreach efforts.
- Translate NCAT research findings into practical implementation guidance.
- Support webinars, workshops, conferences, and outreach events.
- Participate in NCAT Test Track technology transfer activities.
- Provide technical assistance to agencies, contractors, consultants, and industry partners.
- Assist with the development of online and video training content.
- Contribute to technical reports, articles, and implementation resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Level I - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering degree or related fields.
- Level II - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering degree or related fields and 2 years of experience in engineering and research practices and principles. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.
- Level III - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering degree or related fields and 4 years of experience in engineering and research practices and principles. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.
- Level IV - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering degree or related fields and 6 years of experience in engineering and research practices and principles. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.
SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED FOR EXPERIENCE: Yes, When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with asphalt materials, pavement design, construction, or quality assurance.
- Experience developing presentations or technical training materials.
- Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer licensure.
