The ACPE GROUND capability supports Army Data Analytics by enabling the digitization, ingestion, integration, and analysis of mission, program, and strategy data. The effort includes the integration of Project Polaris and the Digital Roadmap Tool (DRT), while leveraging multimodal data and AI/ML capabilities to support trend detection, pattern identification, transcription, and decision-support analysis.

Data / AI Engineer Position

OMNI is looking for a Data / AI Engineer to design, build, and maintain multimodal data ingestion, tagging, correlation, and AI/ML-enabled analysis capabilities supporting the Army's modernization effort.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain and utilize an Active DoD Secret Clearance while supporting secure Government environments.
  • Design, build, and maintain multimodal data ingestion pipelines supporting structured and unstructured Government data sources.
  • Develop data pipelines capable of processing text, imagery, audio, transcripts, and field observations.
  • Develop and implement automated tagging, metadata management, and data correlation capabilities.
  • Apply machine learning and NLP techniques to support classification, trend detection, pattern identification, and transcription optimization.
  • Develop and tune AI/ML-enabled capabilities that support analysis and decision-making.
  • Support integration between Project Polaris and the Digital Roadmap Tool (DRT).
  • Contribute to the iterative Agile development and delivery of the prototype/MVP capability.
  • Collaborate with the Solutions Architect, Product Owner, and Cybersecurity/RMF Specialist to align technical solutions with mission and security requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and contribute to Software Design Documentation (CDRL A005).
  • Leverage Python and SQL to develop ETL processes, automate workflows, and support end-to-end data engineering activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) plus 5+ years of hands-on data engineering and/or AI/ML development experience.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data pipeline development, ETL, and workflow automation.
  • Experience building and maintaining multimodal data ingestion pipelines, including text, imagery, audio, and transcripts.
  • Hands-on experience applying machine learning / NLP techniques for classification, trend or pattern detection, or transcription.
  • Familiarity with metadata management, automated tagging, and data correlation techniques.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum software development teams.
  • Strong technical writing skills to support CDRL and design documentation.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with DoD/Army data systems or program/acquisition data platforms, such as Vantage or the Digital Roadmap Tool.
  • Experience with LLM-based search and retrieval, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or other generative AI implementations.
  • Familiarity with Government cloud environments such as AWS GovCloud or Azure Government.
  • Experience with Teamwork Cloud / Cameo MagicDraw or systems engineering model data.
  • Working knowledge of RMF and ATO processes, including handling classified or Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
  • Prior experience supporting SBIR-derived or rapid prototype-to-production efforts.
  • Familiarity with data visualization techniques supporting decision-support dashboards.
