Job Description


We are seeking a Production Setup Tech to join our dynamic team on 3rd shift. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in high-speed packaging line setup, sanitation, and equipment changeovers and a proven ability to execute timely changeovers that meet or exceed product specifications while maintaining safety and quality standards.


Shift & Schedule:



  • 3rd Shift, Monday through Friday, 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM

  • 8-10 hour shifts. Overtime of 5-20 hours beyond 40 hours may be required based on business needs


Responsibilities:



  • Disassemble, reassemble, adjust, program, and set up equipment to meet Apex Product Specifications.

  • Set up and change over equipment including cappers, fillers, torquers, sleevers, unscramblers, conveyors, labelers, tapers, sorters, sensors, coders, PLCs, pumps, rails, and transfer systems.

  • Coordinate and perform tasks related to change parts. Clean, sanitize, kit, and stage parts and equipment for timely product changeovers.

  • Organize and stage non-sanitized parts for changeovers. Inspect parts and equipment after sanitation and prior to staging.

  • Follow GMP and safety standards. Adhere to sanitation procedures and complete required sanitation forms and logs accurately.

  • Perform light maintenance as needed to complete sanitation and setup tasks safely and effectively.

  • Maintain a clean, organized clean-parts room, sanitation room, and tank farm. Hook up totes and tanks to supply product to the line.

  • Participate in shift hand-offs to ensure smooth transitions. Communicate with team leads, line leads, and maintenance to coordinate product transitions.

  • Apply lean tools, eliminate waste, and institutionalize 5S practices. Support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills & Qualifications:



  • 3-5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably on high-speed conveyorized packaging lines.

  • 1-2 years in maintenance, repair, or setup roles with mechanical or electromechanical systems preferred.

  • Demonstrated mechanical and electromechanical aptitude, including hand tool and fastener knowledge in metric and English.

  • Ability to recall, run, and store existing PLC programs or ability to learn this task.

  • Solid communication skills. Ability to read and write procedures and specifications in English.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Vo-tech training in mechanics, auto repair, or machine repair preferred.

  • Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals, and ability to take accurate measurements.

  • Apex MCP CNS training completion required. Good documentation practices and attention to detail.


Work Requirements:



  • Reliable transportation. Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage cyclical workloads with interruptions for changeovers.

  • No overnight or day travel required.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:



  • Continuous standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting, grasping, and repetitive hand/wrist movement for 6+ hours per day.

  • Sensory requirements include good eyesight and normal hearing.

  • Indoor, seasonally hot and humid, wet environment. Exposure to fragrances that may be at elevated levels.

  • Frequent moving and lifting of up to 50 lbs.

  • Work with FDA-approved substances that may pose allergic potential for some individuals.


Preferred Skills:



  • Prior experience with lean tools and 5S implementation.

  • Exposure to PLC-controlled packaging equipment and high-speed changeover practices.
