Job Summary:
Defined Software Development is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support enterprise-level database environments in Tallahassee, FL. This role will focus on database planning, administration, performance tuning, and operational support across multiple platforms including DB2, SQL Server, and Oracle.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience managing large-scale production databases, is comfortable working independently, and can contribute to long-term database strategy and optimization.
Required Experience & Skills:
- 5+ years of combined database administration experience
- Experience with IBM DB2
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server 2016+
- Proficiency with Oracle 19c+
- Strong knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS)
- Experience with database performance monitoring and tuning
- Strong SQL skills (development, optimization, and code reviews)
- Experience supporting enterprise production environments
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues independently
- Strong documentation and process development skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Azure SQL
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily database administration and operational support
- Plan, design, implement, and maintain database structures and environments
- Monitor and optimize database performance and efficiency
- Conduct SQL code reviews and recommend improvements
- Develop and maintain database procedures, standards, and documentation
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in production environments
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and technical teams
- Assist with training and mentoring junior staff
- Support additional database and infrastructure initiatives, as needed

Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
