Job Summary

We are seeking a Solar Commissioning & Repair Technician to support Distributed Generation (DG) solar projects. This role involves commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing solar PV systems across multiple sites. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure solar assets are commissioned safely and operate at optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute commissioning activities for solar PV systems including inverter startup, system validation, and interconnection testing
  • Troubleshoot and repair PV modules, inverters, combiner boxes, and balance-of-system components
  • Diagnose and repair single-axis tracker systems including motor replacements and control card issues
  • Perform AC/DC electrical testing including string testing, IV curve tracing, thermal imaging, and grounding verification
  • Maintain detailed documentation including commissioning reports, punch lists, and repair logs
  • Submit RMA requests and support warranty claim processes
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, LOTO procedures)
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors and subcontractors during commissioning and repair activities
  • Provide daily updates on site progress, issues, and milestones
  • Travel to multiple project sites as required (up to 75%)

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (Technical certification preferred)
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in solar PV installation, commissioning, or maintenance
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical systems (up to medium voltage)
  • Experience with electrical testing tools (multimeters, clamp meters, IV curve tracers, meggers)
  • Valid driver s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Willingness to travel up to 75%

Preferred Qualifications

  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional (PVIP) or Associate Certification
  • Experience with tracker systems (Valmont, Terrasmart, Array Technologies)
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems (Also Energy or similar)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • Experience working on complex or environmentally sensitive project sites

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to walk and work across large outdoor project sites and varied terrain
