Job Title: Senior Project Controls & Performance Analyst (Design Engineering)
Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced Senior Project Controls & Performance Analyst to manage engineering project portfolios, schedules, and performance metrics for our designated design engineering disciplines. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining portfolio schedules, coordinating updates across specialized tools, managing project baseline change requests, and developing comprehensive performance management dashboards that provide clear visibility into operational goals.
This is a critical position for a professional who bridges technical project scheduling with high-level business analytics. You will partner cross-functional stakeholders to track key performance indicators (KPIs), facilitate resource planning (histograms, long-range planning), analyze financial and operational metrics, and ensure rigorous schedule integrity using Primavera P6. Key Responsibilities
Schedule Management & Portfolio Control
Portfolio Scheduling: Maintain and update comprehensive design engineering project portfolio schedules for designated regions and disciplines using Primavera P6.
Schedule Integrity: Analyze activity logic, work breakdown structures (WBS), and critical path relationships to ensure accurate schedule forecasting and milestone delivery.
Baseline Control: Facilitate design engineering change requests, re-baselining project schedules and managing portfolio schedule adjustments as needed.
Tool Coordination: Coordinate project status updates across specialized tracking platforms (such as the Smart Turnaround Tool / STT) utilizing integrated inputs from Excel, Access, and Power BI.
Performance Analytics & Reporting
Dashboard Development: Create, manage, and maintain performance management dashboards and executive reports that provide clear visibility into company and engineering performance.
Resource Planning: Facilitate and monitor engineering resource planning, workload allocation, long-range planning (LRP), and resource histograms.
Metric Analysis: Conduct rigorous analyses of financial, operational, and customer performance metrics; track progress against key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify optimization opportunities.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams and leadership to establish performance goals, develop actionable improvement plans, and ensure metrics align with overarching business objectives.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Project Management, or a related field.
Experience Baseline:
oMinimum of 7+ years of experience preparing, supporting, and managing performance data analysis and operational reporting.
oMinimum of 5+ years of dedicated experience in schedule updating, management, and reporting using Primavera P6.
Technical Mastery:
oIntermediate-to-advanced understanding of Primavera P6 (building reports, utilizing custom filters/layouts, creating histograms, and analyzing schedule logic/WBS relationships).
oExceptional ability to organize, manipulate, and analyze large data sets in Excel using advanced formulas and pivot tables.
Core Competencies: Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to manage dialogue effectively across cross-functional teams and diverse levels of management.
Preferred Attributes
Direct project controls experience within design engineering, capital projects, or heavy construction scheduling environments.
Proficiency with database and enterprise software such as Microsoft Access, SAP, and data visualization tools like Power BI.
Professional certifications in continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma).
